No surprise, sips seem to somehow always get unbelievable help from the umpires.

Yes, the First Base Umpire made a bad mistake. Score should be 1-1 currently.

What happened?

@ESPNU: FYI, 1st base umpire Doug Williams is from College Station, TX.

I think he was in the wrong position (not saying he was in an improper position, just the wrong position for this play) to see that call well. IIRC, he was positioned where Clemens stretch to catch the ball was in line with his line of site, or close to it. Had he been at a 90 degree angle from the play, like the slo mo replay, he probably would have made the out call.

The replay didn't reveal what the ump saw.

3-1 anteaters

Turned it on in 8th to see anteaters rally for 3!

Looks like they have a 30 year old pitching for them!

Texas has left 12 on and at least 7 in scoring position. Don't win much with that type of futility at the plate.

And Clemens has left half of those on. Daddy must still be writing some big checks.

Doug was calling games at Olsen when I was a student, not knowing who Doug Williams is sort of like not knowing who Leo is.

To answer your question he is probably a slightly better than average college umpire who thinks he is far better than that. He also has a perchance to make calls harmful to the efforts of the Aggies. Being a Big XII official that could extend to even games outside those he called at Olsen. He also has a bad case of "rabbit ears." Called K-Man's daughter a c***sucker once just because her old man was not shy in telling him when he blew a call.

Thanks. I usually sit on the 3d base side and sit with my kids.

We just don't talk about that stuff. I honestly couldn't identify a single ump by name except maybe Dave Yeast

I just don't pay attention to that.

It was not when she was a child, she was 21, but he did in a situation in which he was not even calling a game.

The third base side has a lot of fans like us -- families who don't have season tickets who have to travel but make games when we can.

Maybe I should pay closer attention to who's in blue but we're usually talking about other things, sometimes not even basebsll related

I have sat 1st base side more recently and I must say it is definitely the way to go. And the kids love the 203 traditions and enthusiasm !!

Doug Williams isn't an above average umpire.
And the number of times I've seen him screw us since 2001?... Very suspect.

He's no Rick Hall...

I always yelled ugly things about Williams Lube King when Dougie upset me. I figured attacking a man's business was more personal than going after his calls. I never got the middle finger from him though, so obviously K-Man did a better job.
