After 3 Texas players were pegged in a row by Rice, they did not charge.

Stanford just hit 5 batters in their game, including one in the face, and Cal State did not charge.

Does this just not happen in college baseball ?

I know in the Major Leagues it is not uncommon.

Yes they do, its just not as common in college. The penalty is alot more severe in college since you play less games. i.e the percentage of the season you'll miss is greater.

Baseball players all have the same attitude and don't take much crap. I have seen brawls in High School ball, probably more so than college even.

I think it was very obvious that Phillip Humber did not intentionally hit those batters. That was the biggest game in Rice's history. The last thing he wanted to do was put runners on base. People charge when they feel they were hit intentionally.

I saw Street get pegged twice in the first Miami game. The second time, the pitcher walked off the mound towards him, but Street never looked at him.

I think one of the biggest things they realize is that if they charge the mound in the semifinals, if they make it to the finals they probably won't be able to play. That would be a huge letdown for a team if one of their starters couldn't play the finals because he couldn't hold his temper.

It is very rare and I'm glad it doesn't happen as frequently as it does in the pros.

It is getting way out of hand in MLB. I forget who was playing, but didn't someone yell back at the pitcher a few nights ago after an 84mph slider came in a little inside? I mean come on...if a pitcher is going to dot someone he sure as hell isn't going to throw an off-speed pitch. Batters need to remember that throwing inside is part of the game and most of the time it is not intentional (rare exceptions with Clemens and Pedro in his younger years).

Every time a batter thinks about charging from now on, his first thought will be of Kyle Farnsworth. Nobody will ever talk smack about the way Farnsworth wears his pants again.

You have to be nuts to charge a monster like Farnsworth. He should have pulled a Minnie Minoso and have his bat "slip" out of his hands.

Actually, Russ threw behind the guy. The player took a couple of steps toward the mound, and Rusty got between him an Russ. Rusty and the batter actually started the fight.

Also, keep in mind this...throwing at a batter is a FOUR game suspension in NCAA. Particiapting in a fight, or leaving your position to do so, is a THREE game suspension. That is a big suspension in a 60 game season.
