I know at one point we had a regular on this board who was stationed in Minot, ND. If you're still lurking, good luck with the flooding up there. It sounds just awful!

I was in Minot from the middle of February until the 1st of April staying with my brother on base. That was a lot of snow then and they were predicting then that recording flooding would be coming.

Snow melt flooding is an annual occurrence, but not breaking records set in 1881. Best wishes to you and your family, Jock.

Jock, do you also post on a fishing website under another name? An '07 guy that is also at Minot that went to the CWS. Just curious. Also, sorry to hear about all the devastating flooding.

why the hell would you want to do that to yourself? It appears that my section of the city may be saved by temporary levees being raised to protect the major N-S road through town

Jock: Best of luck to you and yours and all the folks up in that area. I was in Minot for my first time ever on a one-day business trip early last fall. Was somewhat surprised by the amount of new growth on the north side of Bismarck and south side of Minot. Other than that...well, it was a quite "rural" drive between the two....

Needed a job and would go anywhere by that point. Ended up withering away in Hobbs, N.M. instead. Love my job... just want to do it somewhere else.

I am thinking of buying a townhouse in Red River, NM this summer. I'd prefer to have something in Colorado, but I can drive to Red River from Bryan in one day.

I like Taos too. I didn't think that I would because it is so trendy, but it's really laid back... definitely too crowded in the summer though.

quick update; just drove my house after getting back from work; my section of town is still dry due to the levee that they've built and continuing to raise. Just praying that it holds up. Should have a better feel if I'm gonna make it through over the next 24-48 hours
