If the SFA game wasn't the knockout punch to last years hosting aspirations, it was at least a pretty painful kick to the junk.

Let's get this one back, boys!

Far too early in the season to have been the knockout punch but it did start the trend of dropping midweek games against teams that should have been Ws.

They're coming in on an 11 game win streak.

They tagged Ehlert pretty good last season. We tried to come back but fell short. The season before, they came close to beating us too. Gotta come out firing or this could be another tough game.

Since the other thread has many of us reminiscing about the 89 team, I do believe they pushed that team to a late rally as well ... do NOT overlook SFA.

Yes, I too had my heart broken by the 89 team ... there I said it ... Here's to hoping the '11 team finally mends that heart

They've played one team with a pulse (Houston) and lost to them by 7 runs...

k-man...

Don't know if you remember the specifics of the '89 SFA game or not, but I'm pretty sure it was on the Tuesday immediately after the back-to-back Byington HRs to beat Texas. Maybe my memory is fuzzy (entirely possible) but it seems like Byington hit a late inning HR vs. SFA as well to win the game. Don't know if it was bottom of the 9th, but I seem to remember we were trailing and he rescued us for the 3rd game in a row.

But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. – Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)

Luke: I believe you are right. In fact, MJ rested most of the starters, and we were behind going into the 7th or so, when we started pinch hitting. Byington got the game winning hit, and the team sort of dog piled him (not a real dog pile, just jumping on his back). Screwed up his back, and he ended up DH'ing for a while after that.

I also seem to remember that the regulars didn't start and only entered the game because the Ags were trailing late.

EDIT: Oops, I guess I should have read twk's response before posting my own.

for those of you talking about the 1989 SFA game, it was a DH.
Ags won both in come from behind..first one 7-5 and I dont remember who had game winning hit. In the 2nd game it was Jim Neumann with the game winnng hit in the 9th..6-5 Aggie win

Also noticed from the link above with their results that they played a lot of free baseball this past weekend..... a 12 inning game and two 11 inning games interested to see how they approach their pitching if it's a bunch of different arms like a bullpen by committee etc...

it'll be interesting to see if SawDawg sticks with the same 9 that started Saturday & Sunday

or if he gives Smith, Collazo, or Arthur one more chance to start hitting

We just beat the number 2 team in the country on their home turf. I'd say on the list of priorities, changing the lineup should be about, oh, last

How long do you want to ignore this user?
the Ags pulled it out tonight, but the staff did not stay with the 9 that produced 16 runs on Sunday & Saturday. Only started 6 of the 9

well you need to get some guys at bats. You might need them to pinch hit as some point.

You shouldn't need your A game to beat SFA

Yeah, I think they will stick with the weekend lineup for the weekend.
