Did Stilson throw at Whittles head on purpose?

If anyone remembers during the game, we had a batter hit in each of the first 4 innings. Around the 4th, Stilson threw a fastball at Whittle's head. Now I know that pitches get away from pitchers and our coaches generally don't throw rebuttal pitches.

But just after that when the inning ended, Gonzo returned to the dugout and Saw Dog chewed him out for a good minute or so.

Do you think Stilson threw at his head on purpose? Or hit the one batter on purpose?

I seriously doubt it.

I doubt it. I remember last year people complaining that we don't throw at people. Complaining that we need to show that we have our teammates back. I doubt it too.

Okay. Maybe I'm way off my rocker and Saw Dog was complaining about something else. And yes, cobizzle. I'm one of those in the crowd that thinks we need to throw at batters in retaliation, for a psychological reasons if no other, but that's another story...

Glad we won! Stilson had a few control issues, and the umpire behind the plate wasn't helping that. That makes it seem even more like one got away from him.

from my seats on the 2nd row just above the A&M on deck circle..it was not "chewing out" but rather a conversation.

It was nothing..quit blowing things out of porportion

It looked like it wasn't a simple "talking to". I asked if anyone else thought that way and even admitted I was probably looking too far into it. I didn't say it happened for sure, because I guess the only 2 people who know are Gonzo and Stilly. A few people said they doubted it for various reasons, so I accepted that I looked too far into it, or did you not see that post? You don't have to be all aggressive about it.

What was the conversation about, Mr. Insider, if I can ask?

what would be productive about giving them free baserunners because they gave us free baserunners?

It wouldn't be productive. It really never is. Pitchers still do it.

Anyhow, if a pitcher was trying to pull something like that, I suspect our head coach/pitching guru would be doing the chewing out, not Sawyers.

I don't think anyone was aggressive about anything, unless we're talking about your description of a simple conversation between player and coach. Nothing wrong with someone calling you out for blowing it out of proportion.

Nothing wrong with Stilly "brushing" Skittels off the plate...

It looked like it just got away from him, especially taking into account the control issues throughout the night. There were quite a few in the dirt, so it's to be expected that if it's an off day some will go head-height.

This coaching staff has never been in the retaliation game. Even when it's clear when our batters have been beaned.

Agreed, BQ. Which is why I thought it was crazy. Apparently putting the question out there is "blowing it out of proportion"...

And I agree with you too, chunt. He struggled.

Still wanting to hear what the conversation was about.

Good luck finding that out. Doubt Sawyers remembers by now anyway.

Well one of the posters said he knew what it was about... I just wondered.

That's not why you do it...

but that's all you're doing...

if a pitcher feels he has no alternative except to throw at a batter, you have a really bad ball club.

I dont think he ever said he "knew what the conversation was about"..just that he witnessed the conversation from the stands (as you did) and he saw it as a just that..a conversation where as you described it as a "chewing out".. Big difference.

and I will say that even if we had thrown at them and the coaches disagreed with it
1. They would not "chew out" said player in sight of other team or umpire
2. Sawyers would not be the one involved in that conversation with the player, it would be Childress

so yeah, I tend to lean with the poster who claimed you were blowing it out of porportion

I think some of y'all are blowing your responses to the OPs blowing the conversation out of proportion out of proportion.
