According to Fox Sports Jose Lima, former Astro, Dodger and Mets pitcher (among others) has died from a heart attack.

That guy was a character in Houston for two years but he did real well.

RIP.

I met him at Dave & Busters in Houston after they lost one of the playoff series (can't remember which).

I was there with a group playing pool and he got the table next to us.

He took time to shake all of our hands and he thanked us all for our support. You could tell he was sincere.

He'll be missed.

I saw a Casa Ole ad last night and started wondering what Lima Time was up to. One of the good guys in professional sports. He obviously loved life. 37 is way too young.

Didn't know him but knew folks who did. Said he was the nicest, most down to earth guy you could ever meet.

I always liked Lima. He seemed like a very genuine guy who didn't take himself to seriously. I'm glad someone mentioned the Casa Ole commercials as those were great. We went around the house singing those seemingly for years.

Jim Rome put him an elite club that was kinda called "if you don't have his autograph, it's because you haven't asked for it." Richard Petty, Gordy Howe, Jose Lima, not many others. Guys that made it a point to sign no matter what. Guys that felt it was their responsibility take care of the fans (customers) when ever possible.

He was a great guy. I met him when I was working with the Royals and he was on the team. Sad day...

I am not sure what year it was but I believe it was Jose's first year with the Astros, before he became a stater and well known. I took my son to an Sunday afternoon game. After the game my son wanted to get some auotgraghs. We went outside the dome to where the players leave. There were alot of people waiting and we couldn't get to close and most players would just get in there cars and leave. I wanted to leave because I didn't think we would be able to get any autograghs but my son had different ideas and wasn't going to leave till we got one. A SUV pulled out and parked nearby, a few other people walked over to the vehicle. We walked over, you could hear salsa music coming from the SUV. Jose and an attractive lady was in the SUV. He signed my son's glove and talked to him briefly. To be honest at the time I did not know who he was. Needless to say he became our favorite Astro. We still have the autograghed glove.
