i think he was referring to guys like colligan and gonzo who never ever swing at the first pitch. i mean i know the lead off guy is supposed to draw out the at bat, but you aren't supposed to put yourself in a hole to begin with, especially when you are hitting near your own body weight
I agree - it seems like every time Colligan is going to the plate, he's down 0-2, 1-2, and then when he does take an early hack, he pops it up. It makes me wonder if he would be better around #6 or #7 in the lineup.
