besides the obvious choices('89 Texas series,'99 regional and super regional, last 2 regionals)what are some of your favorite Olsen moments..weather it be a play,a game or a series

Mine...1995 SWC Tournament
I used to love the old SWC tournament...not played on a neutral field, 4 teams...great weekedn of college baseball...in '95 Rice, Texas and Tech came to Olsen for the tournament.
Opening day of tournament the Ags trailed Rice 6-0 before mounting a comeback and winning 8-6. Next night Ags faced regular season champ Tech and Tech won 6-5..facing elimination the next day the Ags found themselves trailing Texas again 6-0 before coming back to win 11-6...Robert Harris who struggled at the plate in '95 had a key 3 run homerun...Ags turned around and beat Tech later that night 9-4...although Tech would win the next day 8-6 over the Ags to claim the SWC Tourney title...that weekend is one I will always remember
IMO the '95 team always gets lost in the shuffle when talking great Aggie teams...of course everybody is gonna talk 1988,1989,1993,1998,1999....but the '95 team was as entertaining as any Aggie team I have seen..a not so great start to the season cost them a flashy record..but from about the midway point of the season that team was about as good as any Aggie team I have ever seen play.
started the year 17-13-1. team was so up and down early in the season...lost 3 games at a tournament in New Orleans(we drove all night to catch the A&M-LSU game at the Superdome)..then came home and lost to UTSA at Olsen...followed that up by winning 2 against Arizona(3rd game ended in tie...zona had a plane to catch)then lost 2 of 3 at home to Cal St Northridge...went 4-2 in Continental Classic including 2 wins over Alabama...went 2-2 in SWC first pitch tourney in Houston which included a win over Texas but also a 21-5 loss to Rice..then went to Rice and lost 2 of 3 to sit at 17-13-1 before reeling off 15 straight wins.
Jeff Bailey hit a grandslam homerun in bottom of the 9th for a dramatic win over Tech at Olsen to split that series...we lost 2 of 3 to Texas but did beat the Horns 25-6 at Disch Faulk..after taking 2 of 3 from TCU the Ags finished SWC play at 15-9 which tied for 2nd place....after SWC tourney Ags were sent to Miami as the #2 seed..lost to a very good Florida INternational team 9-5 to open the regional...fought thru errors and sloppy play to beat UMASS 14-11 in elimination game before bouncing back and beating FIU 4-2 and then knocking off North Carolina 7-0 to earn spot in title round....gave top seeded Miami all they could handle beating the Canes 4-0 to force a 2nd game where Miami claimed 5-2 victory to win regional and earn CWS trip
my trip(rant) down memory lane and 1995 season...fun ride

Don't know if it is my all-time favorite, but...

In '98, on a Tuesday night, we fell behind Rice 9-0 and rallied to win 10-9 and the legend of Chris Russ began.

Later that year, Rice was sent to College Station as the #1 seed in the regional (this was the final year of the 6-team regionals). Rice badly wanted another shot at the Ags but got eliminated before the could play us. In a game vs. Washington, Rice pitchers set an NCAA record by hitting 10 UW batters. Easily one of the funniest times I've spent at a baseball game at any time on any level.

Good times.

Stream of consciousness is no way to type. That was difficult to read. Yes, the 1995 team was fun to watch once they got it going. Curl in Austin was amazing. Then Gus walks him all day Sunday and Jason Stephens puts up about 10 RBI in a blowout Aggie win.

Favorite Olsen moment for me has to be the 9th against Clemson. Y'all know the story by now.

Bailey's GS against Tech was in the 10th. Babrer gave up 4 in the Top 10th after we tied it in the 9th.

just an FYI... but also one of my personal favorite moments at the Shack...

MJ brought in Casey Fossum to finish the game..Fossum fanned Bubba Crosby to end the game and Wayne Grahamn ripped MJ in the papers for bringing in a weekend starter for a midweek game...classic

and yes Wadd you are right..Baileys grandslam was in the 10th not the 9th

one of my favotites was the Friday game against Baylor in 1998 when Baylor came in ranked pretty high.
A storm blew in right at game time..I dont think it rained any..but the wind picked up and it got real dark..well the Ags put up a 5 spot in the bottom of the 1st..I think Kuzmic had a homerun..Ags scored 3 more in the 2nd and went on to win 8-1.
It was also an attendance record for the biggest crowd at the time..and Aggie Alley was packed!

Still can't believe there were like 14 of us and not one person brought a damn glove. I knew that day the Aggie jokes were right.

My favorite Olsen memory (besides 99 Clemson, 99 t.u., and 99 Baylor), was winning the intramural home run derby my Junior year. I don't know if they still have that, but it was a lot of fun.

I grew up dreaming of playing at Olsen, and got as close as JUCO, so getting to hit a few into the net in left was pretty cool.

'99 Clemson - the two homeruns (Truitt and Screech, right?) to take the lead and then Fossum closing it out to advance to Omaha. That is still my favorite Aggie sports moment that I have witnessed in person, closely followed by Acie's shot against t.u.

Definitely sweeping tu in 1991. It was the first time that they had been swept in a conference series since the late 60s. We stormed the field and sang the War Hymn with the team after the 3rd game.

I think my favorite Olsen memory is the Sunday game against Mizzou last year. It had rained all morning. Everyone was watching the weather closely, right around 11:30, the skies cleared up and it looked like the game would get played. A&M scored a run in each of the first two innings. Mizzou tied the game in the top of the 9th. Then, with the first pitch in the bottom of the 10th, Kyle Colligan hits a line drive home run into a stiff left field wind. The best part of the play was watching Aaron Siene (the Mizzou left fielder) take off his glove and throw it into the left field wall.
That series in general was great. On Friday, A&M overcame a bad deficit to win in the bottom of the 9th. And on Saturday, A&M completely killed Mizzou. It was a great weekend.

Will...yes that was a great moment in Olsen History...it's the only time I can remember fans running onto the field!

The Rice game was where I learned my lesson about leaving early. It was cold and rainy, an absolutely miserable night. Our son was only a couple of months old, so, when we fell so far behind, we used that as an excuse to leave early. Never again.

Victory... there were fans on the field in 99 after Fossum struck out the Clemson kid to send us to the CWS...

Wadd, yeah I think youre right there were some fans on the field after Clemson...but it was nothing like the scene in '91.
What I will always remember about Cookie is after the game he came out of the NC dugout to applaud the fans..even threw his batting gloves to some kids..great sportsmanship!

How about the opening game of the '93 Regional against Yale that started at 11pm and ended after 2am.

ahh...Olsen Memories...I'm ready for some Aggie Baseball!!!

It was pretty cool when Saw-Dawg got ejected and came up to sit sith us. I only really started going to games four years ago, so I don't have that many old stories. Hope to make some in years to come.

Hrmm...many to list...one that won't get play anywhere else though was Eric Scheidt hitting a walk-off HR against Kansas - just ~6 hours after I watched the stage at Reed. What a great day...

(Mizzou series last year was the most fun series I ever had at Olsen, gotta admit).

After beating Clemson 100-0 on Friday night in Game 1 of the '99 Super Regional, we were sure we were headed to Omaha. But on Sunday afternoon trailing by 1 run in the 9th inning and their stud closer who hadn't given up a HR all season taking the mound, our mood had changed.

Our bats had been quiet all day and we had scored only 1 run. Our #9 hitter was up and it didn't look good for the Maroon. But that little kid hit a "schreecher" that cleared the left field wall by a p-hair. And the game was tied! But we knew we were going to win then.

The next pitch Truehit deposited about a mile over the scoreboard in left. And the stud who hadn't given up one homerun all season had given up 2 on b2b pitches!!

And the Aggies were off to Omaha!

Triutt did not hit the next pitch over..he was not even the batter after Scarborough..Chad Hudson was after Scarborough and lined out to centerfield...then Truit was up

And we were not off to Omaha because we were the visiting team and Fossum had to get the strikeout to send us to Omaha

Obviously.

David - I realize Fossum had to pitch the bottom of the 9th for our victory, but I could "feel the win" as soon as Schreech's homer barely cleared the lf corner. Had the same feeling earlier in the year when OSU had us down in the 9th. As my buddy was mumbling and itching to leave "to beat the crowd", I told him Truehit was going yard on the next pitch. He quickly turned and caught a glimpse of that moonshot. And the crowd went wild!

One of my favorites was vs KSU in probably '01 or '02ish. Jimmy (the guy who used to sit at the bottom of 204ish) kept ragging on this guy who looked like Sh**** from Scooby Doo. Finally, around the 7th inning or so, when the guy came up to the plate Rick played the Scooby Doo sound effect (the laugh). It was golden.

Also a Dominos Classic (or whoever the sponsor was back then), I recall some guy for another team having problems with his jock strap as he went base to base and eventually taking it off? Perhaps somebody can embellish on that story for me.

EDIT: ah geez, it was Sh-a-g-g-y from scooby doo.

I'm going to follow the rules of the OP and not choose the regional championships or supers or things that happened somewhere else (Ruggiano grand slam), so I'll go with an obscure one that is still one of my favorites. It was opening game of one of the regionals (I think 1993). Weather pushed the start time versus Yale to midnight and the game ended around 2:30AM. The place was rocking for opening pitch and most were still there for the final out. Anyone else remember this one?

In the 1997 season, It was my second ever Aggie Baseball game when I was like 10. I was chosen to be one of those Hershey Kisses that run in the outfield to win everyone a cheeseburger. I started with the lead, but then slipped and fell when around in the outfield and ended up losing..

Other than that, the double header during the 97’ season against Nebraska where there was a rain delay. The Aggies decided to have a good time and slide across the tarp which left room for good laughs in the midst of the downpour.

Other than the obvious Clemson games...

1. During my undergrad, they didn't have a protective net for the camera guys. A screaming foul one hopper hit a cameraman between the legs and he did the America's Funniest Home videos crotch grab. Everyone immediately laughed at him

2. Playing some team with purple shirts (maybe it was northern colorado one year), one player had tucked his shirt through the front of his zipper and had it hanging out during his whole at bat. It can only be described as a "shirt weiner". Even the umpires and coaches were laughing at him

3. Last year or the year before, the ump forgot to zip up after a btw inning bathroom break. Everyone saw him pull up his fly and laid into him. Mr. Hill even played a toilet flushing sound effect.

4. Thebeau's late inning heroics against U-La-La.

5. In a Tuesday game that took forever, the Rice pitchers combining to get to "Ball 14" or so. We had our shoes off and waved toes over the railing.

6. Anytime Patton baited some chump to run on him.

7. There's too many to count. The front row of 206 provided a lot of memories. Hopefully a few different groups show up for the game on Friday so I get to see some people.

Cookie Massey was cool- had the hand held camera taking pictures of everything. Crowd ragged him at every at bat about his size and he ragged right back. One of the few opposing players to get a standing O from the home crowd when he came to bat. Good sense of humor, nice guy. I do remember at the end of the championship game, the War Hymn was playing and of course and the stands were moving and jumping and all the 'Carolina players were out on the field watching. I talked to some of the Carolina players after the game and one of them commented that he had seen games on TV from KYLE but that TV didn't do justice to the atmosphere and watching the War Hymn and the crowd.

The original point: Cookie was a cool guy.

There were a number of fans on the field after Fossum struck him out. I was standing by the fence along the third base side and when some of the guys in the pen ran down to the mound I just stepped in and ran with them.

All of the memories mentioned above are why I love Aggie Baseball so much ... here's one more

It was Wayne Graham's first game at Olsen as skipper of the Owls. Wayne had enough of the terrible calls at home and got in the umps face and did enough to get tossed. His assistant then got into it with the ump -- while everyone was distracted, Wayne got down on his hands and knees (you gotta remember he was like in his late 60's back then) and buried home plate in dirt. On his way to the showers, Wayne was muttering "Well, he wasn't using it anyway".

The next time Rice came to Olsen, we had our plastic sand pales and shovels and asked Wayne if "we could join him at home today". He gave us a thumbs up and said he'd let us know. We saw him in the stands at some tourney at U of H a couple of year's later (it may have been the last 1st pitch tourney) and he still mentioned about needing some help burying home plate.

I hate what he has done for Rice (really just jealous), but he sure has a lot of personality for a guy that has to be almost 80 now! I really have no idea how old this guy really is, but I think he and dirt were formed about the same time!

last year was my first at olsen and my favorite memories were Colligan's walkoff against Mizzou and the coaching staff really wanting to kick the tails of Nebraska's staff. Olsen was rocking on both occasions, and the friday night almost fight between the coaches was priceless
