get into a fight on the field before the game? Coaches and players had to break it up. Looked like it was right before the national anthem or something. Fresno State's players were just standing on the other side of the field and watching it. What a horrible representation of your school and an embarrassment for the coaches to have their players act like 10-year olds right before a huge game!!!!

They're certainly playing like a distracted team...3 outs away from being dismissed by a #4 seed.

Fresno would be the first #4 seed to make the CWS since the field expanded in 1999.

The players almost looked like they were standing on the 3rd base line for the national anthem. Then 2 players just started scuffling. It was bad camera angle, but when they zoomed in, about other players were helping to break it up and all teh Fresno players were just standing in disbelief. Not really clear what started it.

The two players are both 1st round picks for ASU.

Ike Davis (P/1B) was the 18th pick by the Mets and he "attacked" teamate Brett Wallace (3B- 13th pick Cardinals) about 25 min's before the game. It looked like after pregame infield was taken as Fresno St was about to take it looking on. The two ASU players were hitless in the game 2 loss on Sunday.

Being a big ASU fan I really want
to know what it was about.....those two guys are first rounders and Wallace is a two time Pac 10 Player of the Year.

Regardless of when it was, you still hate to see something like that. If I'm Fresno States coach, I take my team to the duggout and tell them,"that's why we're going to win this game."

Rivals has a thread on this that reports ...."I have it on very good authority (both Ike's and Wally's parents) that it was staged...."

yep, that's exactly what you want to do. You should never want your team to actually focus on the game and get prepared as you're about to start. Now, if it's in the 8th inning, THEN you might take a look at the lineup and see who you're batting after.

It's well documented Murphy is one of, if not the, biggest ***** in college baseball.

It wouldn't surprise me if his dumbass did something like this.

There is no article on ESPN saying it was staged. The video and the article about the ASU game both say it was a scuffle.

WTF are yall reading in the recap that I am missing? Below is what it says in the recap. There is nothing about it being fake.

Pathetically enough, both this incident and the one that happened in the Fresno series WERE STAGED.

I asked my good friend who played for that 2005 ASU squad. Murphy apparently told Larish and Averill to get in a fight.

Murphy told the team this would look intimidating to the other squad.

Pretty pathetic and stupid. My friend thought it was pretty f'ing stupid at the time too.
