Planning on making the trip to baton Rouge this year. Never been. One of my buddies that has been claims I should try to buy a parking pass.

Is there not pay parking lots around the stadium? Any tips or suggestions?

I've been told, if you have Texas plates, don't park anywhere near the stadium lest your car be keyed and maybe even have a glass liquor bottle thrown through a window, esp. if we win or have won the previous year, or a couple in a row.

Even LSU grads and fans back in the 90s told me, "Hey, I live in Houston, I have LSU stickers all over my car, and I don't park at the stadium with my Texas plates. I park at my parents' house and take a taxi."

Good luck, and Gig 'em.

It depends on what time you were planning to get there. If you get there early enough, you can park in one of the free lots. There is a parking garage that you can pay for but it fills up pretty fast. Go to LSUsports.net and look at the parking maps.

There are free lots near Walkon's and by the Vet School on River Road. The river road lots are probably your best bet if you get there early enough.

I have Texas plates and have never had a problem & I've been going to games for 35 years.

Piece of advice: Waze is a good app to have to monitor traffic going across the Mississippi River Bridge. It is always backed up for several miles on Friday afternoons, but I would think it will be better because of Thanksgiving weekend. There is only one other crossing in Baton Rouge and I've had to use the back way every home game Friday this season. I think some drunk Tulane engineers designed that bridge. .. lol

Buy a parking pass. Plan on having awful traffic on I10 getting into Baton Rouge on Friday. Plan for awful traffic on only one road headed towards stadium.

Keep in mind that LSU's campus is right on the Mississippi River, so traffic crossing the bridge is going to SUCK, especially for football games. Adjust your itinerary accordingly.

There are some free lots, but if you can't park there you should be able to get a free parking pass.

Plus the students will be on break so there will be slightly more open space on campus than usual.

Make sure to stop by one of the hundreds of tailgates, we'll feed you and your families really good.

Pay heed to this advice. At the minimum you might want to rent a car.

Could be wrong, but I've never heard any stories about LSU fans keying other fans' cars. If that 's true, then the people who do that are a**holes that should be banned from attending LSU athletic events for life. There are a LOT of LSU students and alumni from Texas (probably most of our out-of-state kids are from Texas), so I don't think they would appreciate people going around vandalizing cars with Texas plates.

I know there are some LSU fans that behave terribly, mostly drunk idiots, and I'm one the first guys to call out s**tty behavior when I see it. For the most part, though, you should be fine as long don't go out of your way to attract attention from the drunk idiots. Stick around fellow A&M fans, be polite, and you should have a great time. We'll even feed you for free if you're polite and not Bama fans.

LSU fans are very passionate, but also hospitable as long as you're polite and friendly. We'll tease you a bit before the game (all in good fun) and then invite you to join our tailgates after the game, win or lose.

I know LSU fans have kind of a bad reputation. Maybe it's deserved, maybe it's not. I will say I hate how our student section behaves nowadays, and I'm not some crabby old man, either. They're very entitled. I can remember when a 7-win season and a bowl win was celebrated like a national title. I was very angry when I heard them chanting "**** YOU, SABAN!!" on national TV. It makes our university look like garbage. Plus, we wouldn't be what we are right now without Saban. As much as I hate losing to him, he was a great coach for LSU.

In my experience, the worst fan base in the SEC by far is Alabama (at least for football). Their fans are even more drunk and violent than I've ever seen LSU fans. Last year, I saw a Bama fan beating up his wife/girlfriend to the point of tears in broad daylight over "not caring enough about Bama", and reported him to the police, who detained that lowlife. I realize most Bama fans would never behave like that, but that just shows how much some of them care about a stupid game. They also left our campus looking like absolute garbage after the game last year, leaving trash everywhere, harassing LSU students, and even vandalizing some of the dorms. Then of course there are the famous teabagging and Harvey Updyke incidents everyone knows about.

I would be disgusted if I ever saw fellow LSU fans behaving like that.
