This is what happens when a new coaching hire goes completely wrong.

Should have hired someone off franklins staff in order not to change culture and the momentum. Whatever mason is doing is not working.

Offensively, I totally agree...but defensively, they're transitioning to a 3-4 with only 3 returning starters. Franklin took every top recruit from the class with him to Penn State this year...so I think in all honesty is that it's not that Mason was necessarily a terrible hire, Vanderbilt may have been ready to go back to being 'normal' Vanderbilt and not having the same coach made it much worse. Just my opinion...

I was simply saying for a program like vandy, it may had made since to keep continuity with someone from franklins staff. Vandy was playing some of the best football in program history and franklin was hired away for greener pastures.

Now they got a guy that seems to be doing things differently and it's not working.

Fran, sherm, and RC were fired. Frankin wasn't.

Vandy = Baylor. They are a blind squirrel who found their nut (Franklin and Briles). Once those coaches move on they go back to the prison shower treatment until the squirrel finds another nut.

Oregon comes to mind.

They should have decided to change their ways and become a serious SEC program - put money & effort into their program, pay Franklin more than he was worth, and keep him.

I really do not know why they stay in the SEC.
