Love DirecTV, but they need to make a move on the SEC Network soon.

So is DISH the only local provider carrying the SEC Network?

I have Direct TV and love it...but the SEC Network is a must.

Been an uninterrupted Direct TV customer for 16 years....that will end on July 31st if a deal with SEC Network has not been announced by then. Ridiculous to let DISH get this leg up on them.

If Direct TV doesn't pick up the SECN, then I suspect it will no longer make sense for Direct TV to WANT to sponsor SEC related websites.

I have also been a DirecTv customer since the beginning. July 31 is also my deadline. No SECN by then and I am gone.

Got an email from Directv just a day ago reiterating their cancellation policy.Seems they are gearing up for the worst.

DirecTV is doing very little communication about this issue. They are dangerously close to losing the entire South.

Call Directv and tell them 7/31/14 is the date Aggies will switch to Dish or U-Verse.

You reckon they know what an Aggie is? The people I talk to don't know what the SEC network is. By golly they try to push Showtime and Skinemax though.

Can you wait until 7/31/14 to drop Direct TV? Will you have time to get an alternative by August 28th. I know a lot of people have already switched. I personally am giving them until July 1st. Do we have an update on the situation?

I have not seen any press on DirectTV losing the entire South; where did you see that?

No update i've been able to find. I don't have a drop dead date personally. Trying to be optimistic. No Uverse where I live and I probably wouldn't go with them anyhow. DTV kicks Comcast's ass all over. Dish is my only option.

So TexAgs will keep a sponsor that refuses to carry the SEC Network and some of our games.

That's disappointing.

And apparently Brent will be carrying Dish now.

This. Don't take their offer to stay. (you can always call back later if you decide to). For now just tell them you are done on 7/31.

Explain to me where I told TA what to do.
I can't seem to find that wording in my posts.
I simply asked a question and expressed my (along with many other true Ags) disappointment in DT's handling of this situation.

I also would be interested to know ( although he'll never say) what Brent's plan is for watching all the games.

Brent's plan for watching SEC games will be to go visit a friend who has Dish.

^ I would assume that Brent will be watching on Dish since he sells it as well as Directv.

I get both for free!!

Not sure i'm switching yet. Direct is pretty good otherwise.

I'm not sure why DTV is waiting to announce the SECN. They won't gain that many customers because they carry the network but they sure will lose a bunch if they don't. It's looking more and more like a "bean counter" is running their show and they are prepared to deal with not showing the SECN.

Spoke with a DTV representative yesterday and he stated the official date for the announcement of SEC Network is August 12, 2014.

I called to cancel DTV yesterday after 15 years. The retention agent's response about the SECN was to "check with her manager on the latest" and who's response was:

"Everyone else negotiated first and SECN put us at the end of the line to negotiate..it's now our turn to negotiate and we hope to have it."

I laughed and let her know how ridiculous that sounded. My service has been cancelled and Dish is set to be installed. If DTV gets it, then I'll talk to them again in two years...they had their chance and need to understand the import when they are renegotiating fees in a few years.

Edited to add: They evidently are saying all kinds of things to different folks. Told me yesterday that they were making a decision one week from today.

Reports coming out that DTV and SECN have agreed to a rate schedule. Signed agreement should be forthcoming by the first game of the year, but probably after the official launch of the SECN.
