Should I just slap them next time? I immediately became angry and defensive but walked away to consider if this is true/ask TexAgs.

I've been welcomed by the SEC folks that I know and work with, no questions asked. Was included in the SEC emails, banter, chatter, etc. LSU, Ole Miss, State, Alabama, Arkiesaw, Georgia, South Carolina.

On secrant there was a thread where almost everyone was pulling for us in the Cotton Bowl.

So my experience has been quite a bit different.

Half right, everyone whose arrogance thought that we were going to come in and not rise to the top, to the detriment of their school - read Vandy, Ole Miss, Miss St, Tenn, Kentucky - those school's fans will hate us because they are that much further away from a championship.

I hope all of them hate us. Really, I do.

Not right at all - I know many alums from the schools in your list and they do not think that way at all. SEC is competitive as heel but they respect the teams that win. Vandy has a NCAA championship and bowling and so far no other SEC school can make that claim. Kentucky has a title in Rifle and I think that sets them apart from the rest of the SEC. Tennessee has the Lady Vols and they are pretty stoked about that success. Ole Miss has The Grove and State just has some really nice fans because StarkVegas is kinda bland.

In the end each school carves out a niche that helps the conference as a whole. As for football schools rise and fall.

Vandy has around a dozen conference titles and were the early pioneer of SEC success
Kentucky had the Bear and brief periods of greatness
Ole Miss has 3 MNC's that they can hang their hat on
Vols have one of the biggest stadiums in college football, 6 MNC's and a Navy

The beauty of the SEC is that no school stays on top forever and strangles the other ones. The Vols has Neyland, Major, and the fat man so it just reinforces the cyclical nature of the SEC as a whole. Enjoy your time in "the 6" and just hope you can finish there with some regularity.

I've been doing some work in TN over the past few weeks, and everyone I've spoken with is happy that we are a part of the SEC. Most of them thanked us for helping represent the SEC in bowl games. Lots of respect going around. Only One man's experience though.

I work in baton rouge. While the ags haven't racked up titles in rifle, bowling, tailgating, or niceness my friends here love the Ags being in the SEC.

Every SEC alumni I know or met have been over the top nice about us joining the SEC. But then again, none of them are Vandy or Kentucky people.

no wonder Vandy alum hates us! we did more in one season in the SEC than they have ever dreamed of accomplishing in the history of their program.

Titles in bowling and rifle??? Holy hell?

Someone from Vandy says everyone in the SEC hates us? Sounds like someone wishes they could win 11 games....

yeah from what I gather SEC fans are happy to have us. The only negative feedback i've had is from a Vandy grad who was upset when we beat Bama. When i asked why, she said "you can't just come to the SEC and start winning like this, it's not fair."

takeaway from that conversation - vandy grad was jealous that the aggies are good and they aren't...

All SEC fans I've met have been nothing but cool. All pulling for their conference and good folks,

Bonfire, I don't know any UT fans that hate you. Everybody I know got a kick outta y'all beating the Crimson Turd. We're light years away from a even a division title - or even an Outback Bowl bid - with your without your membership, thanks to our Bama plant for an AD and idiot chancellor.

I lived in Nashville for 3 years & worked w/Vols & Vanderbilt alum. They didn't care for each other much & their differences were similar to our experience w/ sips. Vanderbilt alums were a little more uppity. Although they weren't nearly as arrogant as sips are.

I wouldn't put too much stock in what that commodore says.

He just happened to talk to an idiot. EVERYONE (have talked to hundreds about A&M) is overjoyed that you are one of us and I think you guys are glad to be in the SEC.

Everyone I know from other SEC schools are very happy to have us. When we beat Alabama, I got a lot of congratulatory messages saying we "belong in the SEC" from SEC folks at work.

Not the same at all....

Vandy had 13 conference titles early on and they were the founder of the group. I am pretty sure Baylor or Iowa State can not make this claim. Not sure about 2 random fans but I know older VU alums (the folks that write the big checks) and they are happy to have A&M in the SEC.

If folks keep trying to view VU as the new BU you will find resistance from other SEC fans. Many former athletes at other SEC schools send their kids to VU so the Dores are fully integrated with other SEC schools.

Hate to break it to you, but most SEC fans laugh at Vanderbilt. No one but you cares they are a "founding member"

Thought our Bama win, Heisman winner, and CB blowout victory would have put an end to that crap.

I have never had any real problems with Arkansas fans. Even though they had a very painful football season, most of them thought Johnny Football and the outrageous debut of the Ags was a pretty cool thing.
