If I had told you, back in March of 2004, that our new basketball coach would go 8-8 in the Big XII and go 3 rounds deep into the NIT his first season, THEN go 10-6 + a conference tourney win + get within 3.9 seconds of the Sweet 16 in his second season... that he'd be 2-0 at home against top 10 ranked horn teams... AND that a historic basketball power would have him on their short list of head coaching prospects...

... If I'd have told you all of that in March of 2004, would you'd been happy?

Hell yeah, I would've.

It's no fun right this second, but compared with where we were, this is a fantastic problem to have.

I'm optimistic that we'll keep Coach Gillispie, but even if he leaves it's been a great ride and we are lightyears better off now than before.

yeah..but the real question is...

It's still fun and exciting for me. This has been the best effort from an A & M coach since forever. I share your concern about the short list. However, I think BB retains Gillispie, much to the agony of the rest of the Big 12.

It's very much fun with a big ol' ring of hurt around the heart right now. It's a weird feeling, but I am very pumped about our fans and our BB team. Florida was a great place to be this past Thursday through Saturday, and that can never be erased.

bqce, it's too bad you couldn't have bottled the electricity that was in that Jacksonville arena in the last 3 minutes of Saturday's game and brought it back and shared it with the rest of us.

Money just can't buy such moments.

I got a scalper ticket and actually got to see the Kentucky/Utah championship game in SA several years ago. It was a lot of fun to watch, but I caught myself watching the Wildcat and Ute fans and wondering what it would really feel like to be in their shoes on a night like that.

Maybe... one of these years...

I would ahve been surprised at how specific of a guess you were making.

I think/hope/pray that BCG will stay for a long to come. He has too much promise in this young team to leave now.
