I agree. We need a 3rd scorer to step up in conference or another trip to the NIT is becoming more of a reality.

Coach Gillispie has said over and over and over that our guys aren't playing smart yet.

Guess he knows what he's talking about.

A greater focus will be needed for Big XII play... even if it's a down year for the conference.

3rd scorer? Law hasn't proven to be a consistent 2nd scorer yet.

We need a reliable jump shooter who can also take people off the dribble.

Wright's absence was sorely felt tonight.

Most shooters are streak shooters. They get hot and they get cold. Acie has been cold for about 3 games but nobody else has stepped up to pick up the slack. You can't lay it solely at his feet.

Like I have said from the early in the season ... we're gonna miss AW a LOT more than most people thought. A 3rd scorer makes a huge difference in how you have to play defense.

we have to be able to work the ball from the inside out our offense runs through Joseph Jones and if he's not effective (which he wasn't for most of the game) then we have problems.

More than a "third scorer" we need guards who can make better passes inside, so far only Acie and somtimes Eddie have been able to do that.

Our offense hasn't generated many inside pass opportunities. We've done a lot of lob passes to the back of the paint, but you're not going to get those passes against better teams.

We lost because of the number of fouls (even discounting the obligatory fouls late in the game) and our 21% 3pt shooting (4 of 19). Everything else was reasonably close.

Yeah...three point shooting was abyssmal tonight. I'll agree on that one. I don't think anyone can argue it. I wish I could have seen the game so I'd know whether our shooting really sucked or if Pacific is actually decent at guarding the arc.

yeah but there's more to passing inside than just passing to guys that are posting up. We miss people coming across the paint and down toward the basket alot.

What I love about Texags is after a 10-0 start, we lose a game and a nimrod comes with a "this is a bad offensive basketball team" post... This is certainly an imperfect basketball offense. Another scorer, preferably a shooter, could make this a great offense. However, with most BCG teams, we are going to have an offense that feeds of of our defense. Games will have to be played hard to win. It isn't supposed to be easy.

I don't think we're a bad offensive basketball team, I just don't think we're as good offensively as we were last year. Luckily the conference is down all around the horn and we can still match or beat last season's performance.

Having said that, we have a SERIOUS dropoff in ball handling when Acie's not on the court. He may be off his shooting mark right now, but HE makes this offense. Without him we are strictly a perimeter team.

I think the point is we haven't looked good on offense all year. This isn't isolated to this game. Very fixable issue, but it hasn't been fixed yet.

I don't think it's easily fixable. If it was, you're saying BCG isn't a good enough coach to do so.

I think we have a more fundamental problem that coaching alone can't fix ... a HUGE missing hole for a 3rd scorer that we had last season in AW, and a Bobby Leach that could make an impact off the bench.

That's a positional talent issue ... not a coaching issue and you don't FIX talent ... you acquire it. Help IS on the way.

This is also a YOUNG team. BCG certainly has his work cut out for him. We can't rely on Joseph to score 30 pts every game...he can't carry this offense himself.

OK, so I haven't been to any games this season but I watch the BG Show religiously (thanks Tivo). From the limited highlights I have seen thus far, we look like we actually have a lot of talent but I don't sense a consistent chemistry. It seems like certain players step up from time to time, but it is kind of random. Again, most of you guys attend games and probably know more, but just thought I'd throw that in.
