What in the hell were they doing with that last shot? Why is it that teams at EVERY level no matter if its the NBA, college, or high school always do that at the end of games? STOP WORRYING ABOUT THE DAM SHOT CLOCK and get a decent shot off for crying out loud.

I swear teams and players are more concernced with running the clock all the way down and making sure they get the last shot of the game, that they forget to actually RUN THE OFFENSE! They always run in it down to 4 or 5 seconds and THEN decide to start getting the offense going. Thats stupid coaching and stupid execution. FORGET THE CLOCK and just run your play and try to extend the game. Man thats frustrating and it seems like everybody does it and the end of halfs and at the end of games.

ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

I am right there with you bullard.

Surely with 11 seconds on the shot clock, they could have been able to get a 2 points basket to kill Illinois.

They seemed tired in OT, and giving out this stupid steal was terrible.

07- do have UNC?? If you do, I'd still say you're the favorite..

They started running the screen and roll with over 9 seconds on the clock against okie state. That was a dumb call as well IMO. Why wait that long? If you miss the shot you leave virtually no time for either a rebound and another shot or to reset your offense...

you set up for the shot to go up with 4-5 seconds remaining, leaves enough time for a tip in/putback but nothing more than a hurl oppurtunity if it goes in

WV didn't choke today.
Arizona did.

I had Louisville and Illinois to the Final 4... so it works for me. If I can get Michigan State to the Final 4 and Illinois to win it all, I win my pool of 79 people. We play for the hell of it, though.

bull- It's just worth noting what happened 2 nights ago, to help explain that last shot. I agree with you in principle.. The only reason I think not to is from the perspective of the underdog, where you want it over over if you make it (like Baylor going for 2 over us last year). But from watching the game, it's clear that Zona could hang with Illinois, it was no fluke them winning.

Im not even talking about just today though. I mean at virtually every level, underdog, #1 seeds, #16 seeds, great teams, bad teams, they all do it. They all hold the ball for 25 seconds out by mid court, let the game clock run down entirely too far and then end up having to throw up some off balance 28 footer at the buzzer when that was completely uneccesary. The defense doesnt have to work at all and if you fumble the ball or drop it or get double teamed then you are screwed and time expires. Work it around, set some screens and just run your normal offense. Like i said it seems like teams and players worry more about running the clock completly out then they do of actually making the shot. Just my 2 cents i guess...

I couldn't agree more. That's been my pet peeve for a long time. Run a play! There has got to be a better way to get a good shot then standing around until the last second and throwing up a prayer.

You will come out way ahead if you take a qaulity shot at 3-5 seconds remaining and give the other team a slim chance at a low percentage buzzer beater.

they didn't even run a play against illinois...the guy stood there and dribbled when the pressure came on he handled it poorly, threw up an unbalanced shot, and screwed the whole thing...why not drive and look for a 2?

The other thing I hate is when teams give up the quick easy layup when they have a 4 point lead instead of making them shoot freethrows.

Because fouling too easily leads to a 3-point play. If they drive the lane, let them have it.
