Oakland beat Alabama A&M 79-69 for an opening-round victory -- and a first-round meeting with North Carolina.

This is the benefit of having a conference tourney. If you don't like seeing a team in the tourney with a losing record, get rid of the conference tourney.

Everyone... not in Chapel Hill will be rooting for Oakland.

This makes our three point victory at home to Alabama A&M look worse. We were embarrassed by that score before we realized how good of a season we would have.

The coach for Alabama A&M was complaining about having to participate in the play-in game. He said he understood why Oakland was there but couldn't understand why his team was. Maybe he understands now!
