Now is the time to sack up and be truly happy with the season we've had.

I REALLY wanted a Big XII Tourney win. This season is going to be somewhat incomplete without that. The "0 for the Big XII Tourney" stat is quite an albatross.

On the whole, there is no denying that this team has overacheived mightily and blown all expectations out of the water. A great season.

And it's not over yet.

A win or two in the NIT would be a big shot in the arm to the program.

I did too. It would just be nice to keep everything in perspective. We made great strides this year...both the teams and the fans. We finally have a program we can be proud of.

I'm happy our season isn't over. The last 8 times we lost our 1st tourney game, that was the season. Tonight, we lost a really important game, but we get a chance to redeem ourselves. That is the main thing for anyone who has followed Aggie basketball as long as I have.

Suprised we lost, but we wouldn't have gotten by KU in KC. NIT will be a nice topping to a great season.

Let's enjoy this year's success (which is not over) and look forward to next year!

I just hope BCG will be able to pick the team up and use the NIT to gut it out and get extra playing time in tournament conditions. This will be more valuable than a one and out in the NCAAs (If we are able to win a few games)

We can rationalize that winning NIT games would beat a cameo appearance in the NCAAs... and it would be very empty rationalization.

Going to the NCAAs would've been HUGE.

Winning in the NIT would definitely be nice, though. A&M hasn't won an NIT or an NCAA tourney game in about 25 years, if memory serves.

I am thrilled that we are in the NIT! Anyone who is not happy with attending this tournament is out of his friggin' gourd! (and has some issues with memory loss and possibly needs a reality check)

One question, how many people griping about tonight's game and NIT versus NCAA's would have expected this season to be such a success, on so many levels?

I'm not saying that I'm not happy with A&M getting to the NIT. Looking back at where we came from... are you kidding?

But to argue that this is somehow better than going to the NCAAs is just wrong. The only way that it would even comepare would be if we won enough NIT games to get to Madison Square Garden and win it.

This season has been a success. We could use a post-season win to recapture some momentum.

this has been an absolutely amazing season. I wish we could have gotten rid of that big 12 tourney monkey, but overall I think this is more than we could have dreamed after last years performance.

the frustration you're seeing is totally normal, and is only a result of this team exceeding expectations so early.

a tourney bid was in our grasp at many points this season, and it just slipped away. that's ok, but it's also ok to be a little disappointed

I was supposed to be happy with the NIT, but I feel kinda empty right now. I think I will be okay on monday.

Disappointed in the loss, but happy that we get to play again.

One good thing about the NIT is that we are definitely in contention to win it. Just 24 hours ago, we were on the "bubble" to be one of the 30-something best teams without an automatic bid. To barely miss that means that the best teams we could play will be in the same position as us. Notre Dame is one team to worry about, though.

i never said that i'd be unhappy with an NIT.

As some people are saying in different words, it's ok to be disappointed with a loss, but if anyone is not over-the-top ecstatic with our overall season, then you are a poop head. This has been a great year, exceeding everyone's expectations.

watty has it right, also it bears mentioning that beating KSU would not have gotten us into the NCAA field, that would take beating KU as well, odds of that were slim though it was possible.

On to the NIT!! Let's win a couple of games and get some MO for this program. Clyde is a stud and is getting it done and we WILL be an NCAA team shortly (like in 12 months!).

I am disappointed because things could've been better (we were SO close), but on the whole, NIT is fabulous. I look forward to it and will be there next week assuming we have a home game. Best season in at least 10 years.

jarrin jay,

i was actually just starting to think that beating kansas st. might have been enough with maryland and notre dame losing early.

I'm still happy. It's frustrating knowing that one more win (namely at NU or vs. KSU) might have gotten us to the big dance, but I am certainly happy with where we are right now.

Quite honestly, I'll trade the two losses mentioned above for the big, blow-out wins over Houston, Texas, Mizzou, ISU and tech. That's 5 unexpected wins vs. 2 unexpected losses...and about a 1000% improvement over what we've seen in the last 10 years. What's to be upset about?

Happy. Heck at the start of the season, I was just hoping for a B12 victory. Post-season play? Amazing. Congrats guys! NCAA 2006--here we come!

happy but disappointed. There is no reason to not adjust your goals during a season once it is obvious you have accomplished them. The NCAA was a mid-season goal, maybe not set by the team, but certainly set by us fans/media/etc. It was a tough loss, and I was pissed off all night until I woke up this morning. Looking forward to the NIT. I am ecstatic. Hopefully we can make it to New York. Heck we could get a shot at Maryland. That is awesome.

The Ags should be very happy with the NIT considering how the season went last year. A great leap forward with a very good new coach. It says volumes that there's so much disappointment for A&M not making the NCAAs. That's how far expectations have come for you in a single year.

Once again, Adam is right on target.

It's hard not to WANT a berth in the Big Dance, but it's also easy to lose sight of how very far this team has come and how thrilled we all would have been last year for just a small semblance of what this team has accomplished.

Disappointment is NOT the end ... it's the beginning. And the NIT is the first step.

We can pick up some quality green stamps if we do a good job in the NIT. It's not the Dance, but it's a HUGE improvement and simply a building block for more improvement.

i dont care what your opinion is on the NIT - A&M is playing basketball in the post season.

**** i know TECHNICALLY the Big XII tourney is postseason, but everyone gets to play in their conference tourneys - dont get technical with the definition of "postseason" ****

Nice to see all the upbeat posts. It sure sucked listening to Fox and Hound commercials for the ultimate place to watch all the Big XII tournament action. If I'm disappointed in anything, it is just being entrenched what all the other bubble teams are doing and such. That was a lot of fun.

We're all disappointed. But if you think you're disappointed, think of how BCG, the staff and the team must feel. I'm sure they are really low right now. We need to help boost 'em up for a kickass performance in the NIT. It'd be really nice to hang an NIT championship banner for this team. This is a HUGE gut and character check for our guys and they need our support.

All the disappointment is actually good. It shows that a lot more people care about Aggie hoops than previously thought.

I don't care if people just starting supporting the team this year, it was great to hear about large crowds, the fat shaker, airport greetings and sendoffs, and good ideas for what to do at the games. Got a lot of folks energized and re-energized about the basketball program. This of all things shows how far the program has come in a short period of time, not to mention that we did get a lot of media love this year.

What a great inaugural year for Gillispie and a great reward for a team in need of some success. Really happy for all the players and while the disappointment of not winning a Big 12 tourney game is still very real, the players and fans can take some solace in the fact that there will be some more hoops this year.

to sit back in retrospect and see what this guy has accomplished with what little depth he's had in truly remarkable.

his teams are fundamentally sound, hard working. if you would have told me we'd be in the post season at the beginning of the year, i would have NEVER believed it.

congrats to the team.

AMEN ...

This team has busted butt and overachieved. The NIT is a "relative" disappointment, but still WAY beyond what everbody but the most ardent wearer of maroon colored glasses would have imagined.
