I'm talking about Acie Law. I don't think he will leave early or anything because he isn't quite ready yet but I think he has potential to be an NBA point guard. He has the size, speed and continues to polish his skills that he will need in the pros. What are your thoughts?

agreed - needs to work a lot but he has the raw potential to get there. consistency is the main key right now.

my roommate said the same thing like 3 weeks ago and i totally can see it. has a long way to go but he has the size and natural ability to get a shot at the league. needs a better outside shot and better defense, but he has 3 years of college still to work on that

Do you think he has more potential than Bernard King had (i know, bk wasn't point)?

yes, BK is a different type of player. He is a scoring 2 guard. BK wasn't shy about shooting 20 attempts a night. Acie is a true point guard. he can drive, shoot, play defense, run an offense and is a great passer. he is already showing leadership ablities as a sophomore. He is still raw and needs to get better in all of his ablities but I think after his senior year, he could really be a value to the NBA as a point guard.

good college point guards are a dime a dozen. I'm not saying Acie couldn't make an NBA roster, but the odds would be against it.

He certainly played exceptionally well tonight.

I disagree. Most college point guards are 5'9" to 5'11". Law is at least 6'3". He's quick, has good court vision, has a good outside shot, and is a good defender. He'll be a 1st round pick after his junior year if he doesn't get hurt.

I also must disagree with Quaid. Adequate PG's might be a dime a dozen, but exceptional PG's are rare. If they weren't, why would most coaches be wringing their hands about finding an exceptional PG? There are a lot of good 2's, 3's and 4's, but the two hardest positions to find exceptional players are at the 1 and 5.

it all depends if bg is really as good of a coach as he's started out to be. if so, law will continue to improve and has a shot. he certainly has alot of raw talent. if bg turns out to be a bust like watkins, acie has no chance. he can't get there on his own.

There are very few pure points in college basketball. Acie has the size that makes it possible for him to play at the next level. If he works hard, I believe he has a chance to be as good as we have had at A & M. He also does very well in transition, and can use both hands very well which is you rarely see. I am glad we have him for the next two years.

After watching these guys for the first time, I'd have to throw Joseph Jones in there too. I can't believe how at home he looks down there in the paint. His footwork and hands are ten times ahead of where I imagined. When he gets a pass he doesn't hesitate to put it up.

I didn't say he can't make the league, just that the odds are against it.

I'll bet you any amount of money you'd care to lose that this will not happen. Acie will not be a first round draft pick next year.
