When Buzz left a little less than a year ago, almost everyone was some degree of ready to try something new, but almost nobody expected any kind of success right away.
Then we zig where everyone expected a zag in the coaching search. Bucky ball was exciting, but seemed to make it even more likely that we'd eat at least one season.
Then the players started to come in. Some intriguing, some surprising. By the time the ball was tipped in November we thought maybe we could make the tournament if things go right.
They did not go right. Injuries had key players in and out of the lineup and sidelined our most talented player for the year. We got wasted by Oklahoma State and blew chances to beat UCF and SMU.
Then we started to find it, and a few months later, here we are. Every season is a different journey, but never take any season that ends in an NCAA Tournament birth for granted. For the fourth year in a row, we're going dancing, a streak that's only been matched by one other in school history.
