As someone who's followed his career closely, I'm interested in how you think he's evolved as a coach? How has his scheme or style changed from the high school days to coaching at Samford and what do you think changes now that he moves to a major conference?
When he first started out as JV coach and his first several years of varsity, he ran a lot of dribble drive (think Memphis under Cal). His offenses are much more predicated on PnR now. He's obviously able to get more breadth and depth in his offenses and defenses coaching at a higher level.
He evolves with the players that come in. He's not a coach that is going to plug his players into his system. What he does offensively is going to be determined by his personnel and strengths/weaknesses. What he will be rigid on is his defense--if you aren't willing to die on the defensive end, you're not going to play much. I mean that almost completely literally. That has remained constant.
On a personal level, I've seen him evolve in the sense of getting more and more involved with all of the goings on at the school. I think that's been easier at the college level for him and has really boosted student and fan engagement in his programs.
I could very well be wrong here but I think it's going to be difficult to go as deep into the rotation at a high major conference. That could force him to reduce the pace some to accommodate a shorter bench.
