Apparently Milos uzan is returning to Houston, so I guess that's why Isaacs decommitted there

I think Houston's point guard is coming back.

Thought he was signed, sealed and delivered to Hstn and K. Sampson.

I know he comes with past/damaging accusations that I guess he overcome or proved incorrect (maybe?).

Probably fallout from this...

i don't know how all these pieces are going to fit together but damn what bucky has done under difficult circumstances is pretty amazing. we have some players who can score and we have a few of them.

honestly as excited or more excited for basketball season than football season and i love football.

A good opportunity and pickup for us as NBA draft deadline is closing. Hopefully he's fully healed and ready to go in the fall.

Maybe we'll get another nice pickup as some other guys decide to return to their school and pull out of the draft in the next few days and will create a few more dominos.

Here's a little more info

Does our roster have any fallout from this? Anybody going to jump ship with Pop in the fold?

It seems more unlikely when considering that all of our other guards also agreed to come when Duke Miles was also committed.

You never know these days but I'd think players probably knew this was a possibility. Seems like it was pretty clear this was the plan if Uzan returned to Houston.

Man, Bucky has really hit the ground running. This is a very good roster for the style of play Bucky wants to play.

I'm not sure it does fit his normal style with all the big guys, but it's a very intriguing roster on paper.

I think y'all are building the style up too much somewhat. I expect it to be very aggressive and fast-paced, but its not like some kind of gimmick ball where you dont have forwards or something. It's way more typical than what we had been running, if anything.

I think offensively you're right, people have made too much out of the offensive system when it's not that uncommon.

But I think defensively it's pretty radical, if we're really going to press most of the time make-or-miss then that's going to be VERY different, but if you expect that to work at this level you do need bigger players. You need athleticism and length to press good teams.

Turgeon and Kennedy both promised fast-paced offense. Both retreated to emphasizing defense…we'll see???

Mark Turgeon never coached a team ever that could be considered "fast-paced" until his third season at Maryland, so if anybody said that it was wishful thinking. Likely there were some here who made some assumptions that don't really know what they're talking about though.

Likewise, Kennedy always was more of an average pace type guy (I would call Turgeon slow and methodical).

You can see in the data that Samford played fast, often in the 90+ percentile of high tempo.

Huge get for us, but it looks like many Houston fans were unhappy/not excited when he originally committed a couple of months ago.
bobinator

Also Kennedy never actually said we'd play uptempo, he said something along the lines of wanting to look to get a shot up early in the shot clock but he didn't say we'd actually take that many. But playing a pack-line defense we were always going to be pretty slow overall.

Same with Buzz and his bizarro hybrid zone defense. We were always going to be pretty slow no matter what we did on offense.

He'll have some great games followed by some stinkers. Over the course of his career he has just battled inconsistency, but can definitely create some unique scoring opportunities. Despite the inconsistent play, most of that has been due to playing through many nagging injuries. With that said, toughness is not a problem with this kid. Hopefully, he can stay healthy this year.

As far as the comment about past character issues, that story was blown up by ESPN and an attention seeking dad/booster. Pop probably shouldn't have put himself in that particular situation, but most people realize he just made some common mistakes that a 20 year old kid will make. He seems to be a great teammate.
