I've been watching this 'Mean Streets' youtube podcast by two guys who know Bucky well (at least one played for him). They both say tons of great stuff about him in the video, from recruiting to coaching style, etc.

One of them is a former Bama basketball player who knows Bucky and says Bucky's "the most Saban-like coach I've ever come across."

I was pleased A&M decided to take a risk on a high-upside guy. After watching this video, I'm ecstatic. It's basically a hype video by two guys who know him (and basketball) well.

Thanks for sharing. Great advertisement! Im sold…buying season tickets for the first time. I hope Aggieland doesn't let you down Bucky.

Update: On second thought, weren't we recently told by players how great a coach would be.

Sounds like a Billy Gillespie level intensity, but without the personal character flaws (hopefully). Definitely risky hiring a guy that was coaching high school 5 years ago, but I'd rather try that than hire a known quantity with mediocre results.

This is really exciting to hear! We had outstanding football coaches in high school. This was late 90s and I grew up outside of Waco and followed Baylor football closely. They were so bad. My dad and I always said our high school coaches could coach Baylor way better than what they had at the time. Looks like Bucky will put that kind of theory to the test. I can't wait! Very excited to have him after hearing what he did at that high school!

It's all about who you hire and how they fit and it seems this is the right fit and we have our guy!

Biggest surprise for me was at the 20 minute mark was the emphasis on defense. Former players stating that Bucky Ball is really about stressing defense and how it only looks like his teams are only about offense. The video guys are really enthusiastic and it's clearly genuine.

Nuño and OB need to interview these guys Monday morning!

yea, but I was speaking of the atrocious football program: kevin steele, churck reedy, dave roberts. just speaking coaching in general. those guys were so bad they would have failed anywhere in any sport, i believe.

Basketball is different than football though.

And for a most recent analog, Oats was only six years out of high school when Bama hired him

I agree with you. I'm saying I bet success translates across the board is all, and that he will do a great job regardless of where he is.

That was quite the comprehensive endorsement.
