I would be shocked if Payne comes back. Maryland is gonna give him a big bag and he knows the coach.

It's somewhat sad because Buzz squandered his talents most of the year.

Can't blame them. Gotta keep their options open in case the new hire is a hard no for them.

Unfortunately I think this situation is nothing like baseball. There was a core group of guys that wanted to come back together. Basketball basically has two guys left. There is nothing for them really to return to. Both will be able to go to another team that has more stability and better odds at this point. Would love to see them both back, but think it is an extremely long shot we will see that happen.

Manny said in an interview yesterday with a Maryland pod that all the guys were going with Buzz. Which shocks nobody, except the one guy here that somehow thought Payne and Solo were staying.

Everyone relax. These same guys would have entered the portal even had Buzz stayed. It's called leveraging for more NIL and it's the most common tactic used in all college sports.

Which Aggies under Buzz have gone to the portal to leverage for more money? Nobody has gone into the portal, gotten more money from A&M and come back after entering the portal. Pretty much everyone that went into the portal, Buzz wanted to go into the portal.

Payne will take less money to go to Maryland than he could get on the open market.

I know the portal can be brutal and we had 8 guys with no eligibility left but do we really only have 1 player from last year's roster that is not currently in the portal? Has that ever happened before where a school has to start with 0 players (assuming all the guys in the portal leave) from the prior year? Seems worse than baylor after the death penalty.

Go check out Baylor now. Same as any other place. Everybody is working on one year deals and then 80% roster turnover is now the norm. With almost 2,000 players in the portal will find 15 that will work just fine.

Welp, was fun. Hopefully we roll the dice well.

I hope you are correct. I didn't know teams were replacing 80% of their rosters these days. I guess I only follow our team and we haven't had nearly that turn over. Maybe we'll be fortunate enough for a coach to come in with a solid foundation and he can bring all of them along with him.

Solo could be a good fit for Bucky Ball.

Edited to add I know he already committed to Buzz/Md but the lack of development of his offensive game with his tools was a glaring failure of Buzz's staff imo .
