I didn't realize Stephen F hired him in March, though he finished out the season with Tech.
If you saw the Tech v Houston game, Tech ON THE ROAD lost their head coach and top player (ejected) 4 minutes into the game. Braeuer managed that game flawlessly and Tech ended up upsetting #6 Houston in OT 82-81. actually jeff linder took ober for mccasland that game- thanks for correction. (heck, hire him as assistant)
Particulars:
-Texas born basketball junkie- played under his coach father at Belton High. 5A All State and District MVP.
-Starting point guard 3 years at Wichita St. under Mark Turgeon. Finished top 15 in Shocker history
in 3pters made and assists. Shockers advanced to Sweet 16 and Top 10 ranking.
-2010/2011 assisted at Midland College where they finished 33-4 and national Jr College Championship game.
- Worked a year for Turgeon at Maryland.
- three years assistant at Sam Houston where they averaged 25 victories and back to back conf tourney c-ship game
- 2017/2018 two years assistant at College of Charleston- back to back conference and tournament champs
- Assistant for McCasland 5 years at North Texas; back to back conference championship. NIT Champions; NCAA tourney win over Purdue.
- 2 years at Tech as McCasland's right hand man.
McCasland on Braeuer:
"He is a relentless recruiter with a brilliant basketball mind. He had success as a player and has coached at the highest levels. He also has a great feel for what winning looks like."
Heck, I'd take a flyer on him right now if it wasn't for the performance of our baseball team under Earley. Another first time HC that flounders is too much of a risk for A&M right now.
