He has now presided over embarrassing coaching hires for two of the big 3 sports, both resulting in us being made to look like Horns' *****.

He let Horn steal Schloss the day after the baseball team played for our first natty in modern history, and then hired a grossly inexperienced assistant only to watch the preseason #1 baseball team this year collapse, falling out of the rankings completely and destined to not even make a regional.

Now he goes after a basketball coach that Texas fired just a few years ago, and gets rejected to stay in freakin' Mississippi.

Twice now, the Horns and the sports world are left laughing at A&M, further cementing the "little brother" moniker the A&M brand struggles to shed.

Add to that the football team was dominated on our home field by the Horns after not playing in over a decade, in the process of collapsing out of playoff contention and ending up in some **** tier bowl nobody cares about. Basketball still managed to lose 2 out of 3 to one of the worst Horns teams in modern history. And the way things are trending, we will be lucky if baseball doesn't get swept by Horns.

Alberts is a disaster and needs to go.

Is it actually embarrassing that we went after a high caliber coach and he declined?

If you go after a coach Texas recently FIRED, you better be damn sure he says yes.

Who are the two? He has only made one hire for the big three.

Fired due to ethics not job related. Chill.

Personally, I didn't want that type of baggage in our program

Unless there's some unknown harem of upside down pineapple loving Brazos valley house wives that Trev held back on, not much he could have done about Schloss

For those of you melting down over Beard. If you were a top flight highly desired employee of any kind, would you go work for the University of Texas for about the same money you could get elsewhere? I don't think they could offer any amount of money to convince me to go work for that $#@! school.

Posts like this are embarrassing. You're whining not about sports but that something you have no control over happened and someone laughed about it? You know what I do? I watch the games. You know what I dont do? Give two ****s about whatever internet trash talk there may be. What a crybaby. Trev Alberts job doesnt have anything to do with your wittle feewings.

Though not as well-known as this initiative, I'm sure Vitello received a significant raise when A&M pursued him after Schlossnagle left. SEC teams are wealthy, and pursuing coaches who have achieved great success within the SEC will just result in increases for those coaches and leave us looking foolish.

You really think most coaches would not choose to coach at Texas over a school with lesser pedigree, resources, etc?

His job is about winning on the court/field as well as improving the brand of Aggie athletics. He is failing miserably at both so far.

It isn't a dumb post given that we have failed on our first bball replacement and appear to have brutally failed with his baseball hire.

This new coach will be HUGE for Trev because if we start 1-8 in SEC basketball next year then he will be packing

He smelled something going on with Schloss and got caught flat footed. Having plans in place for an unexpected coaching vacancy should have been a top priority after learning a lesson the hard way, at least for top 3 sports (FB, MB, BB). We shall see!

+1

The rumors circulating is that our guys threw an insane number at him and Ole Piss went above that??

Is he supposed to leave because people on an Aggie message board said so?

Get a grip, people.

Kudos for the effort. It's above what I expected

Wasn't there loud rumbling of problems between him and Buzz too?

Guess we didn't have anything worked out and lined up in the event that encouraging him to leave had worked

Idiotic take. At least try to hire Underwood or someone similar. Beard is now getting paid Elko money to stay at OM and you're disappointed we didn't match it up to 7.5mil?

Buzz didn't get along with anyone in the AD. Trev and Bjork.

The disappointment is that we do not have a coach and have about as much faith that we will get a great new coach as we had faith with the football and baseball coaching searches.

LOL. Our record in basketball will never get an AD fired. People are ten times as mad that a coach turned us down than they are about almost every single game we lost combined last year except maybe the last one.

It's fun to follow the drama of a coaching search, but at the end of the day, what comes out of it is just propaganda. Its nonsense. It will be followed up on the field or it wont. No AD in the country can just snap their fingers and make whoever they want take the job, that's not how life works. Hell, Beard and Texas were a match made in heaven, and even that can get ****ed to hell in the wrong circumstances totally outside the control of the athletic department. Stop worrying about **** that doesnt matter and have fun with it. Complain when we lose games.

We've been coachless for about 27 hours here. Willard was out the door at Maryland for longer before they made a hire. If anything, the fact that we just offered a sitting coach 7 million a year gives me more confidence about how the search is going.

It will get him fired if both of his two big sport hires immediately fail after botched coaching searches that did not have existing backup plans. It is his job. You should have plans and backchannel talks always going on.
