So many criticized it because of his past…but it was the hire their program needed and now the success has endeared him to the fan base.

I don't know if Beard is the perfect hire, but why can't we just be open to a guy that can clearly coach?…and if the he wins and buys into the university, be happy to be part of a rebirth and success story?

I'd prefer McCasland, but if it's Beard, great…somebody just be a damn winner.

Who's this Beard guy? Nobody has mentioned him at all on the 50 other threads

Sark was fired because he was an alcoholic, not because he got arrested for domestic violence.

Sark was a below average coach, who lucked into getting hired by the richest athletic department in the nation at a time when it became legal to pay players.

Or maybe he's a damn good coach who overcame some demons. I'd love to have his "below average" coaching ability on our sideline.

I'm not disputing what he is now. But pretty obvious to look at his history and see what has happened since.

Sark got cleaned up, and then got a shot at redemption by being an understudy and eventual OC for the GOAT of college football coaching.
That experience changed everything about him.
His resulting success at t.u. (so far) is a direct result of what he learned from his time with Saban.

Actual charge was felony assault. It was clearly worse than just slapping his woman around because she got mouthy in an argument. The charges were dismissed when she refused to testify because she was going to lose her million $$$ meal ticket and go back to being a nobody.

Good enough for Ole Miss should be good enough for A&M. It's not like Ole Miss took any backlash from the media over Beard. They like him and know he is maybe the best coach in college basketball.

Not to really dive in, but the root cause could be the very same thing (for beard and the wife).

Or did they get dismissed because she realized going to trial would result in quite a public and not so innocent look on her part as well?

We don't know. Hopefully Welsh will do it if we consider him.

I'm not even sure what "it was clearly worse than just slapping his woman around because she got mouthy" means. Are you saying that in itself wouldn't be a big deal? So anyway, it's anyone's guess what really happened, a literal "he said, she said" situation. My guess is that they were both drunk and had a fight, but what do I know? Even a jury would likely have trouble sorting out the truth. The guy is a winner, probably deserves the benefit of the doubt although it's admittedly challenging from the optics side of things.

"Domestic violence" invokes images of a loud argument where she got slapped and maybe pushed down so she called 911 in retaliation. "Felony assault" sounds more like he beat the shlt out of her. Neither is acceptable IMO, but there's a reason that a felony charge carries a significantly more severe punishment than a misdemeanor.

So below average in that he's held 3 P5 HC jobs? What do you consider average?

Key word "was". It's not hard to look up his record.

You are what your record says you are; and yes, the last 2 years he's been well above average.

I'm sure he had some nice guidance in his years under Saban, and turned some aspects around, but I bet the bigger reason is the amount of money pumped into buying players.

Saying Sark is a below average coach is just not a intelligent thing to say. Far from it. Hate all you want.

That's because people expect Ole Miss to be trash. It's Mississippi, i don't think we should ever look to that state for an example in anything.

The police report talked about bite marks on her…I don't see any way Beard comes out as the good guy in an altercation where he bit a woman.

59-47 minus the last two years (mostly his years at WashU). You consider that 'well below average'? He won 9 games his first year at USC before flaming out early in his second year. I don't like the guy but he's been a better coach than you're giving him credit for.

If you would take two minutes to research the QB's that Sark has coached in college and the NFL, you will see that they were playing at a very high level under his watch. Sark knows offense.

Yeah, i agree with this. No Below Average coach gets HC at USC, HC at Washington, OC at Alabama and HC at tu. These are all highly sought after locations.
