Kentucky built an entire roster from scratch after this point last year and they had an awesome year this year.

With the portal, it's much easier to rebuild a roster. Get the right guy. Not saying I expect us to be great next year, but a good coach should be able to identify they right players available to be mildly competitive.

If you hire an interim and then someone new next year, we'd be going through this entire roster change again then. Also an interim coach has zero ability to recruit HS kids.

Every player can leave at any time, rip the bandaid off once, not twice.

Teams built in the portal this year.
Michigan Arkansas mizzou Kentucky. These all made the tourney I'm sure there's more that the season ended up badly.
Point being it's about who you hire!

Why would we hire an interim when the coaching carousel has barely even begun? This isn't like when Maryland hired Turgeon in Late May when the coaching carousel was already over.

Someone get all these OPs that have too much moral compass out of here. We want a good athletics dept. Former students don't like to see smaller schools like Tech, Houston and TCU doing better in sports than the Aggies for the last 3 decades. It's atrocious. Think better.

Kentucky hired the coach from BYU, alum but not a 'star' coach and hit the portal. Didn't fill up with 5 stars, just good basketball players with a good coach and probably decent NIL. Absolutely doable for us, the only piece maybe we aren't just as capable of replicating is NIL, and maybe we actually are.
