I think criticism of Buzz is fair

So with a team that had a core that's been together 4 or 5 years, he got bounced in the 1st weekend against a Michigan team with a 1st year head coach.

His star player that he's taken years to develop and is the premier offensive player on the team goes 4-15 and fouls out in the most important game of his A&M career.

The team that he's built on rebounding gets out rebounded 48 - 39.

He's paid as a top 20 coach and has 0 sweet 16's in 6 years.

Shot selection seems to be a foreign concept to him.

And he's mad people are disappointed on twitter?

I will say, I love that he brought Pharrel Payne to the team. Love a big guy that can get physical in the post and battles. His tournament performance was awesome.

i believe multiple things can be true at the same time. does buzz deserve criticism ? yes in six years he hasn't taken us as far as i think many believe he should have at this point. his offense is below average and he didn't make the sweet 16 once and he did at his two previous stops.

i also still think buzz is a good coach, personally i hope he stays. i like how hard his teams play, he has brought some winning consistency back to the program and i think he does alot for his players development personally.

so while i believe he deserves criticism i don't want him to leave. it seems to me that most view this as either or and i don't think that is necessarily true. sometimes minor course correction are needed to reach your potential.

buzz of all people should understand this.

I can't believe any school that has watched Buzz coach and recruit the past few years would actually consider hiring him away from us. Nothing stands out about him other than he's personally weird and mid at best.

I like Buzz as a man and embassador for our beloved university. I really do. But he is just wheels-off in offensive strategy / focus. One simply cannot ignore the fact that in Year 6 with a senior-laden team, we are still horrendous shooting the basketball. It's the reason we will never win a championship unless he changes his philosophy and recruits/develops shooters...something he has yet to do.

Here is a summary of this year's shooting stats. Rankings are based on 364 D1 schools.

Effective FG% - 47.6% (ranking 315)
Free Throw % - 69.2% (ranking 282)
Three Point % - 30.7% (ranking 328)
Two Point % - 48.6% (ranking 278)

For a coach in the top 20 in salary, this is just unacceptable. We are ranked close to, or above, 300 in the country amongst all D1 schools in all the major shooting stats. You are what your record (and stats) says you are.

Careful... people will think you're just "mad at the end result" and not "appreciating the body of work of the entire season".

Some of the losses this season were so frustrating. We got lucky a few games, and some losses our opponents got lucky. But good Lord it was nauseating to see a singular random player on the other team pop off for 25+ because we got caught in rotation and couldn't adjust it time. It was awful watching the FT and 3FG % this season. It was awful watching a division 1 college basketball team have THREE assists in a game because of popr offensive philosophy. If you are a basketball fan it's just UGLY.

He can go be a leader of men in another capacity. Move on and get a hungry younger coach that can elevate the program to the next level.

Feel free to criticize him but keep in mind the world turned upside down since Covid. I'm certainly not thinking he hit the ball out the ballpark, but he isn't going to do it the way any of you want and I admire that. But he needs to recruit whole teams or fit them together better.

Who's the other A&M coach that led us to three straight NCAA tournaments? I'd prefer not to wait another dozen years before we can continually go back to the tournament. You get there enough times you will make a run.

Loser mentality. It is possible to hire a good coach, we've done it in the past.

Turgeon made it every year he was here. And that was at a time when the entire conference didn't make it. New financial world now with so much of the talent constantly moving to the major conferences.

14 of 16 SEC teams made it this year. 88% of the SEC in the NCAA tourney.

That was an outlier. Might or might not recur.

I think Buzz has been solid here

The Michigan game was a ref screw job

AGREE. If it leaves, I am ok with it as I truly believe Buzz has reached his limit as a winning coach.

And I do not believe it is related as much to offense as most think.

I think it is that he doesn't recruit the correct players to get into the Sweet 16. Love the entire blue collar mentality but reality is......we need some blue chip NBA one and done players. Not an entire team. But definitely some top 100 players which seems very difficult for Buzz to land as recruits.

Buzz as a person and leader of young men is the best HC in the nation. But that's not bringing us any natties or Final Four runs.

Buzz is a really good coach acting like all that matters is a single elimination tournament is crazy. Many of you might get to see how good when Buzz leaves.

Also Buzz was seen as a really good recruiter at Marquette.

Cmon man…. # 1 overall tourney seed and SEC champs in probably the most competitive conference in the game's history. 7 teams in the sweet 16 from the conference and and 4 in the elite 8 and easily could have been 6. Auburn is a powerhouse.

Criticism is fair and comes with the territory but Buzz is a good coach … just maybe not throw the bank at him good.
