Absolutely amazing. The fact that we can't even sniff what these two retreads are doing in the tournament is shameful.

Arkansas is paying their coach $8M and their roster $10M and they went 8-10, tied for 11th, in the league and were a bubble team this year.

You think we're not getting value but Arkansas is because they won one more game than we did in the tournament?

how are they retreads? In this example we aren't even treads

Tech a d Arkansas actually invest big money in Hoops.

We don't.

We throw everything at a football program that rarely ever breaks past the 8-4 barrier and a baseball program that will never make money, lost its coach to our hated rival and has collapsed in more than epic fashion, then whatever scraps are left go the basketball program.

Maybe we should reevaluate our athletic priorities as a university and start allocating more of that pie to hoops, which does well for a program that doesn't get the overall support that the other 2 majors do.

Tech has a better program than us for 40 years. They care about basketball.

This Tech team is really good, but they also benefited from playing 3 double digit seeds.

They care a lot about basketball as a fanbase, have donors that care a lot about basketball and I envy their home environment. I've never been to a game there, but any time they play a big game at home their atmosphere is absolutely in the top tier of the sport. They've made a lot of really good decisions in a row as it pertains to their basketball program, with just one Mark Adams blip.

Then there is Arkansas who is spending at a Top 5 level and they had a mediocre year outside of 2 games last weekend.

Love that Aggie Basketball has generated more interest over the last 10-15 years, but hate that A Lot only tune in come March.

Bobinator hit the nail on the head, Arkansas is throwing the kitchen sink at Basketball. We still make excuses for fans not showing up to Reed for midweek games.

I read somewhere on this board about building a new arena because Reed was aging. .... If you want to "throw the kitchen sink at basketball" and in doing so build a new arena - you build a smaller arena, not a larger one. You make it where it becomes the hottest ticket in town. Forget playing to 3,500 fans in a 12,000 seat arena. Cut the seating to 7,000, or less, and basketball will be more popular than football. This model works.

Said it before- McCasland is best coach atound- on all fronts, but would never come here. Amazing team unity, chemistry, and a great teacher of the value of personal integrity. Not as "famous" as Buzz's "character development/emphasis" but probably at least as effective.

Thet do the dirty work of defense and offensive rebounds, but they couole it with amazing offensive play.

Thise players love each other and their coach, and NEVER believe they're gonna lose.

you don't need a new arena. They don't need to build smaller, if you want a smaller venue they make tarps. We got bad seats that nobody would miss.

We avg second highest attendance in school history. We avg over 10k this year.

We did beat them. Go check the score.

We were without our program's all time point leader for two winnable losses. Had he played and we won, we would have been a 3 seed at worst with a much easier draw than Michigan in round 2.

But he was injured. Something every team has to deal with. We beat Tech mostly in front of their crowd. Facts are pesky sometimes, but they are facts.

The state of Texas will be facing the state of Florida for a chance at the Western Region Championship and a birth in the 25 Final Four.
The Western Region title game will be held at the Chase Center in San Francisco.

I'll be rooting for any team from Texas that is still in the tournament.

Texas Tech has always been looked at as the underdog, the simpleton, the underachiever...etc.
This is the Red Raiders big chance to shed those labels, and finally win the big game. You get a title or two under your belt and suddenly the juco academic, and 13th grade jokes go away real quick.

Im pulling for Tech to pull the upset.

Toppin is the Tech player that was POY in Big 12.
He was averaging 17.9 ppg and 9 rebounds b4 our game.
With him, tech would have likely won our game as it was very close.
He provided their inside game that they did not have as his back up was not nearly as good.
Tech is well coached and plays a smarter more disciplined game than we do, and they have multiple good 3 ball shooters!

How did they prove it? They played in a far worse league allowing them to pad their resume and get a higher seed, got to play 11 seed Drake in the second round while we faced Big 10 tourney winner 5 seed Michigan, and just barely beat Arkansas, a team we absolutely handled.

They got a favorable draw and took advantage. But there's nothing that clearly shows them as better than us. And head to head in a mostly favorable arena for them says they aren't.

We'd still be playing too had we gotten Drake and Arkansas or Tech.

And this nonsense about Big 12 (whoa.. scary tough league this year) POY making a huge difference. We had to go small in our game against them which is why Payne only had 14m of playing time. He also had not yet emerged as the player he turned into. I wouldn't trade their B12 POY for Payne.

You have no evidence they would beat us other than negativity against us.

But you post a mean laugh cry. I'll give you that.

What a stupid take. Other than Drake, they all have 2-3 rounds deeper of a ceiling than us. We're regularly the worst shooting SEC team or nearly.
