Cool. Happy for the players. I'd rather have a coach that wins at a higher level. I do believe this is genuine from Buzz, but if it wasn't for this stuff he'd have been fired by now.

At absolutely no point has Buzz been in any danger of being fired.

Why is it ridiculous? I, as a fan, care more about our team winning games than their spiritual development from their head coach. He isn't a preacher, he's a basketball coach. I want him to win basketball games.

The ridiculous part is "he'd have been fired by now."

Incredible coach with an incredible culture. I'm praying nothing but the best for anything he's a part of, and I hope it continues to be Texas A&M basketball.

Fine. But he'd certainly have much less good will amongst our fans and admin if it wasn't for this stuff. Our bball program posting a 10 minute prayer video seems very weird.

My suggestion is actually watch ALL the games and you'll see wins. Many of our biggest wins ever have come in the last 4 years.

Lol. I watch the games. Would rather see tweets about our upcoming sweet 16 matchup rather than a prayer session. Lucky Buzz had a camera crew there to capture this moment.

Awesome video and gesture by Buzz that makes it even harder for me to believe that group still lost that game by double digits when the stars were aligned for greatness.

Not the place for this. This thread is about celebrating the players and the coach who obviously pours into them and loves them. You can tell by their emotions that this meant more to them than you could ever dream it would mean to you.

while you may be disappointed in the results for the end of this season what buzz brings to the table for these young men is something special. there are times buzz drives me crazy and i wish we could have won more games but buzz is helping nurture boys to become great men.

in today's sports people only care about the wins and losses but what he does for them personally and spiritually is pretty top notch.

Anyone capable of winning a Sweet 16

What if we hired someone who has 4 of them, one more than we have been to in my lifetime? Does that sound good?

He has never been close to being fired, as someone posted a few days ago only BCG had a better 4 year stretch ( by 1 win) than the 4 year stretch we are on now. Has tournament success been here, no and that isn't something I like either.

News flash though, in a 64 team, one and done tournament stuff happens. Matchups are important and so is luck in these events. I'd still much rather have him than not have him. Only one win team will hoist the trophy after the 3 weeks

Maybe Marquette could let us borrow their banners from over 10 years ago so we could feel better...

To my recollection, we have 0 coaches in our 113 history who's won us a sweet 16 game. Should Buzz get all the heat that's out there? No other coach in our history has done it. Arguably some of our biggest wins in history have come under Buzz. We've been to the tournament 3 years in a row. Pretty solid accomplishments for our program. I as anyone else would love a sweet 16 appearance again, a final 4 for the first time ever, but I'm also grateful for what has been done under Buzz. He's certainly brought accomplishments and heights to our program we haven't seen much of.

This so ****ing stupid. Buzz Williams last went to the Sweet 16 in 2019, the year before we hired him, not "over 10 years ago" and in each of the past two season we came within **** hairs of making it too, but people act like those two games are proof he can never win here? Its a stupid argument.

So one Sweet 16 in the last 10 years and even that was 6 years ago.... and he's getting paid how much ? I don't think it's crazy to ask him to be 6 years into this program and have us on the trajectory to be a consistent 2nd weekend team and finish at the top of our conference. But instead have won nothing and we're also in rebuild mode..

Also it's funny that you're arguing that Buzz's tournament success is the reason he's good and the very next guy is sayings its a crap shoot and success can't be based on tournament results, so not winning shouldn't be held against him... Y'all want to have it both ways.

Again, your problem is that, while you care about winning, what you mean by it, is that you wanted to win one of two or three specific games to get the only result youve chosen to care about (making the second weekend). Your problem as it relates to me, is that I care about having a good team first and foremost, and I measure that based on an entire season's worth of basketball, so no, I dont want to fire the coach because he lost one game to Michigan. No I dont want to fire the coach because he lost to Houston. I don't want to fire the coach because he lost to Penn State. I watched this coach beat Auburn, and Tennessee, and Purdue, and Alabama, and Iowa State, and other teams that were really good. I need whoever coaches the team next year first and foremost to get us back on track to actually making the NCAA Tournament before I can even worry about winning two games in it.

You said you wanted to fire him. What's your plan for replacing him once you've done so? Your posts make it sound like you actually have an axe to grind dealing with other things than basketball.

It's funny that that one dude brought up the "Buzz has arrived" thread, because I'm fairly certain that he's the guy who tried to claim on it that Buzz only had one season with a winning SEC record "if you combined the COVID years"

You keep going, so I will too. I did that because someone in that thread literally said "combine the Covid years" so when you do… it's not pretty.

Sweet. So what's the plan once we get rid of Buzz?

Honestly, if we aren't going to invest in the program that will attract top talent (players and coaches) I'd prefer we hire a young and hungry coach with real offensive strategy that wins and make a couple deep tourney runs here that may leave for a real basketball school. That would be better than constantly being in no man's land. Obviously I'd prefer us step up our resources and become an actual basketball program, but I don't see that happening. We're stuck just right now.
