I haven't filled out my bracket yet, but on pure vibes the SEC is going to either absolutely wreck this tournament or almost all of the teams will be eliminated the first weekend right?

Was reading an article today about past seasons where one conference has completely dominated. Take away is that they struggled in the tournament.

So history says the SEC will underperform. Also, I've seen A&M listed as a solid upset candidate based on about 20 different historical metrics, so looks like a fun time is coming….

Likely to happen? Of course not, but neither is any single other combination of Final 4 teams.

By my calculation using Final 4 betting odds, the highest probability of Final 4 teams is:

Duke/Auburn/Florida/Houston at 3.58%

Replace Houston with Tennessee, and it's 1.78%

Also replace Duke with Alabama, and it's 0.59%

I'm sure that's a landslide record for highest probability of teams from the same conference to make the Final 4.

I also have the SEC losing an NCAA Tournament record 14 games in this Tournament. Bloodbath.

I won't be surprised if the sec underperforms significantly. A&M is the only one I care about anyway. I expect UF will live up to its billing .

I think the smart way to play an office final four bracket if you live in SEC country is to have a bad tournament for the SEC. You will likely be one of the few doing it so if it happens, you have a great chance of winning or at least getting in the money even if you miss a number of early round games.

If the SEC does well, you finish near the bottom but the alternative is you have to nail a ton of games to beat the heard that you are with picking a ton of SEC teams.

PS. I would use similar logic to fade the popular local teams/conferences in what ever area I live in.

I'd recommending assuming Florida vs Duke in the Final and then go from there.

Completely agree. I always fade SEC in friend/office pools. Looking at how mine lines up, I really should probably eliminate 1 more SEC by the E8.
