That's interesting for a couple of reasons.

Our 8th best man, carter, is not impactful at all compared to almost all of the other teams. That's not surprising. I guess his rebounding makes him more impactful than hef.

I'm mildly surprised garcia is statistically our most impactful player over wade. But not really surprised based on all he does.

By the way, Garcia is not very impactful at all compared to almost all other teams' most impactful player. I think that means we are getting it done with similar contributions from our top 7 guys.

We have great depth with 2 quality big guys coming off the bench, but we are not deep deep. Not if Carter is our 8th best player.

Now that I think about, I don't agree with whatever matrix he's using here because that would mean carter is better than manny. I totally disagree with that.

This also supports my idea that Anderson garcia will be in the nba next year. He is the ultimate glue, 3 and D guy. His shot looks good and his defense/rebounding/scrappiness/occasionally really good passing ability is very rare.

If Wade and Phelps can shoot just reasonable well, and we get decent manny with 8ish points we can beat anybody.

Wade certainly impacts a game more but this is a player efficiency rating and team +/- splits when on the court plays a big factor. The team plays a lot better when Andy is on the floor, and Wade takes a lot of bad shots. That's reflected in the efficiency.

Not surprised at all Carter is rated better than manny or hef here. I love Manny and he has a key role particularly late in games to drive and finish at the rim but the team often gets sloppy with the ball we put him in and have him direct the offense for long stretches.

So basically Duke's 8th best player is the same as our best player. Yikes.

Duke's numbers are inflated and ours are deflated because of big difference in conference schedules

I think you're drawing some wild conclusions not supported in this pretty basic data.

I like how it throws Jace Carter under the bus when we have a 10 man rotation where we also play our 9th and 10th best player too...

Who are our 9th and 10th players? Hefner and Wilcher? I think Wilcher is 100% more impactful than Jace.

I posted my list before seeing this graphic. I'm most surprised that solo is rated above Payne and Coleman.

Also…. This is obviously just part of the big conspiracy to list A&M's 10th best player instead of our 8th just to get A&M a lower seed.

It's basically a fancy +/- and our defense is way better when Solo is on the floor.

Same reason his "best two man" lineup for us is Solo and Garcia (or was last time I checked) but we know that in reality that limits our ability to score and so we can't play them together in certain games.

He's an above average defender. He gets cooked quite a bit. Much better than Hefner tho

Only thing I can think of with this graph is how at least 8/10 won't be on the squad next year. Yikes

I expect players to get better. I wish there was a good way to use stats over the season to see personal progress.

what this tells me is sometimes the sum of th parts are greater than an individual. or the 8 th best individual. we are clearly not the most talented team but we are one of the best.

My issue with Jace is that his defense is not SO much better that it is worth accepting how atrocious he is offensively, in my opinion. Buzz does not share that opinion though. If we could get anything from him offensively he'd be a really nice player for us because of his defensive ability. The same could be said for Solo a lot of the time.

He's also just an inexcusably bad free throw shooter this year.

Love Jace defense and rebounding.

But if he NEVER shoots another ball - I will be fine with that. I cringe every time Wade or anyone in the paint passes the ball out to Jace for a three-point try.

I can't believe yall fail to mention that without Jace there would be no one to check for proper inflation psi on the basketball after the first of two free throws. That contribution doesn't show up in the stat sheet.

I would honestly give Hef/Manny/Wilcher all of Jace's minutes.

People think he's a good defender because he is big and long, but I don't think that's actually the case. He gets caught flat footed way too often, guards blow by him consistently, and he has a hard time contesting without fouling...And don't get me started about his offense.

Our reminder that there is always a reason players transfer…

Jace is a good rebounder for a guard. To be fair, he gets some tough rebounds in traffic most guards can't get.

But it ends there. Manny, Witcher and hef are all better players all things considered.

I'm sure he's a great kid, and I feel bad for him bc he's clearly got the yips trying to shoot but man, he has struggled greatly this year.

Just looking at stats, poor Tech... Jace shot 5/6 against them, including 3/4 from 3 and 3/4 from the line. Easily his best game offensively.

Strongly disagree on rebounding. He is bad around screens and often gets flat footed letting his guy into the paint. He's terrible at the 3/4 court trap and the ball often goes over him causing our entire defense to have to rotate before even getting set.
