Let's accept they aren't going anywhere (similar to conference championship games in football), there's just too much money for them to go away.

The ACC, BigTen and other conferences are limiting how many teams make their respective tournaments. I'm curious if these leagues are regretting limiting the potential of more teams making the dance, especially seeing that one league could get as many as 13 teams in the field of 68.

What would you like to see…less teams in the conference tournament, all teams?

Personally, I don't like every team getting a chance to play in the postseason, the regular season should mean something. The ACC, BigTen and SEC should stick to a 10 team conference tournament.

Sure the SEC was crazy good this year, but I see that as an anomaly, not something we will see every year.

I think they should just go back to regular brackets. I think these complicated formats are actually making it worse for the bubble teams.

But everyone should make the conference tournaments. There's always been something magic about the idea that even if you were terrible all season, you get one more chance to go on a heater and if you win 10 or so straight games you're the national champion.

Basketball is different than football... Much more injury risk/wear and tear... With the greatly expanded football playoff- I think the major conference championships in football are much more in jeopardy than in basketball..

What about moving the conference tournament up to say the first weekend after new years?

Been saying this for a couple of years now. If you want these things to be competitive, put the auto bid on the line in December. Only for the big conferences though. Leave the small ones at the end of the season.

I like the conference tournaments in basketball. Hey are a lot of fun, especially for the smaller conferences that are mostly one bid leagues

For a league like the sec this year, it's kinda pointless but it's still fun basketball to watch

Just can't see a USCe , OU, Texas or LSu running through this gauntlet and winning 5 games

For teams that are pretty much locked in on what seed they'll get, the issue is whether they even want to try and win the conference tourney, risk injury as well as just wear the players down, making the conference tourney less important. I kinda hope the Ags let lots of players get time in game 1, rest our top guys more, and exit the tourney in the first game to get rested before March Madness.

so you'd probable have to do away with the conference challenges, not sure a team than plays all those games in a pre conf tourney will then wanna go play a tough OOC game.

But i guess that's not that big of a deal.

Football will add more lower level games on championship weekend to determine 3-6 since we're division less with a billion teams.

I don't really care for bball, I just don't get the big 10's 15.

i'd watch that before i'd watch the worthless bowl games they put on now. But I bet the ratings won't reflect that.

It's exciting for teams that had no chance that win their tourney and make it in. It sucks for a team that dominated their conference all year and then has a bad night in conference tourney and doesn't get in.

While I like the idea and would definitely watch, this still competes with NFL.

Just like the NBA Cup - cool in theory - but you have to compete with the big dogs of CFB and NFL which isn't going to be a win.

And honestly these ratings on the CFB playoff were lackluster.

Which also brings us to the point of what Mark Pope brought up a few weeks back - that CBB should move to a 40 game season due to the transfer portal rules and not having enough time to build a team.

I don't like this because teams in December aren't who they end up being, so a team that starts the season slow but gets better as the year goes on doesn't get tu take advantage of that in the conference tournament

I think it's fine the way it is, and if we he conference want to keep them and really wa t them to be meaningful then they need to tell the committees to put more emphasis on the conference tournaments than they currently do

Not to hijack, but it is insanity for schools to go try to capture all of the add'n funds needed by raising ticket prices. Though, in this instance, it looks like they are basically hitting the reset button. Folks who have enjoyed their courtside tickets for decades at a lower cost are going to lose them. It isn't as crazy as it appears to be on the surface.

I saw someone complaining on X the other day (along with a picture of the view from their seats), looked like something 5 row back on the sideline but closer to one baseline than mid court and he was saying it would cost him $40k to renew them.

Looks like a **** show if you need more than 4 tickets to me. No idea what people gave in the past to get the good seats in the arena. This is the problem with grandfathering in folks over and over and over.
