10 more days till the month of March begins. 6 more games till the regular season is over. You can almost feel it in the air. We are currently a sixth overall seed. We are tied for 3rd in the conference standings. Man what a season it's been for us to follow. There is still so much basketball left to play. So buckle in Ags!
Tonight we begin our last 6 game stretch stretch before we conclude the regular season. Currently sitting a 9-3, the Aggies have some impressive road wins this year including at Mizzouri, at Ole Miss, and Oklahoma. So why can't we pick up another one in Starkville tonight. The Aggies are rolling, defense is starting to lock down, the offense is finding a rhythm. Let's prove to everyone why we're a 2 seed.
They are 2-4 at home, with those two wins being Ole Miss and South Carolina. They have lost at home to Mizzou, Alabama, Tennessee, and Florida… all tough teams. But shows they are beatable at home. They also call their place "The Hump" so they deserve to lose there.
As most know, they are led offensively by #12 Josh Hubbard. He had 24 points against us last year in their win over us. He is a high volume shooter, who when hot, can really take over a game. But on an off day, his inaccurate shooting can be detrimental. Against Bama he took 28 shots and on the season he's shooting 39% from the field. He's averaging 17 ppg on over 14 attempts per game. I think Phelps can really shut him down and further cement himself as one of the better defenders in this league.
Miss State is a solid rebounding team and a team with great size. However they do have a tendency to foul a lot. So I hope we're aggressive in the paint tonight. I think tonight we see both Payne and Coleman in double digits! Let's flex our post strength! Winning on the road is tough, but what helps is solid shooting and MAKING FREE THROWS! We all know our free throw woes, however, we are 15th in the conference, tonight we play the 16TH FREE THROW SHOOTING TEAM IN THE CONFERENCE LOL! So this game may be an ugly physical game. It'll be interesting to see how the refs call it.
We are 9-3. Lots of Ags on here said we'd only win 9 conference games, that the conference is too hard, that it'll be nearly impossible to win on the road. Maybe we're scarred by Aggie sports, maybe we're afraid to admit we're a good team, there's a reason we're ranked where we are and why our record is the way it is. Our defense is meant to stop anyone, no matter the arena. Our offense is clicking at the right time. We're rolling! Don't be that Ag who pencils in losses before the game starts. We may have never had a season as good as this one, enjoy it, embrace it, cherish it. Talk trash to your co workers and family. We are a great team. We can absolutely go on the road and win this game. LETS BTHO MISS STATE!
