Good stuff.

They rank as at #6 in the SEC.

Good find!

I'm sorry, but Mizzou at 3 is laughable. No offense to the Tigers, but there isn't a single ranking/predictive college basketball metric available that would put them any higher than 5th, and almost all of the metrics would have them 7th or 8th.

I'm not going to listen to their reasoning, but I assume it's some combination of "they shoot so well!" and "they blew out MSST on the road!" and that's it.

No mention of getting pounded by Auburn, beaten soundly by Texas, losing to Illinois at home, etc.

REALLY good team, and teams 3-6 are probably all REALLY close, but to analyze those 4 teams and their metrics and put Mizzou at the top is wild.

"Power rankings" were kind of designed for overreaction hot takes but yeah, agree

Will be interesting to see if our extra rest offsets Mizzou at home where they are undefeated.

Mizzou is 6-2 and currently third in the SEC standings with a win @Florida and beat Miss State like a drum in their own gym last Saturday. 3rd in a power ranking this week is not indefensible.

Illinois was neutral site w/o mizzous best player.

For a power rating, they're hot and no one wants to play them. It's not crazy.

They have won 2 games in a row, that's hot? So have we. So has Texas. They are 6-2 in the conference, we are 6-3.

I went and listened to them actually talk about Mizzou and it was exactly what I expected - fawning over a win against MSST and fawning over Caleb Grill, who has been hot the last 2 games, but shot 16% 3 games ago in their loss to Texas.

Again, I think Mizzou is good, and I don't think we beat them at home. But as of today, there isn't a single metric you can point to in justification of having Mizzou ranked above A&M, Florida, Tennessee or even Kentucky.

Of course it's a power ranking and made for discussion just like this, I just think its funny to talk about all these metrics for a bunch of teams but then when you get to Mizzou they dont mention a single metric or stat, just that "Mizzou is real good."

They can't mention any metrics, because the metrics would fly in the face of Mizzou at 3.

Edit: also of note, in 2-3 weeks this could be a completely different discussion if Mizzou actually does get hot. But they go to Tennessee on Wednesday … what happens if they get the brakes beaten off them like Tennessee tends to do to teams at home?

Tbh I think Mizzou at 3 is fine but unanimously at 3 is wild

They talked about our style and how we stay in games because of offensive board domination and defense. Not much to complain about as those things are pretty much true but our style also seems to prevent blowouts in either direction . The only decent team we have blown out was tu at home but we also haven't been run out of the gym by anyone. I don't really have a point beyond just making that observation.

On second thought I do have a point. When Wade Taylor is hot we can beat anyone.

lol they're all 6-1 in their last 7 with a win @uf that no one else has gotten close to in Gainesville.

Grills shooting 49% from 3 for the season, and they were within a bucket with 3 minutes left at ut.

I can't decide if you hate mizzou or Texas more, but it's funny.

All I'm saying is find me any data or analytics that say Mizzou is unanimously better than A&M, Florida, Tennessee and Kentucky, because that's what those guys said.

Mizzou has played 3 road games. A&M and Kentucky have played 5, Tennessee and Florida have played 4.
Their SOS net rating is the worst in the conference, and their non-conference SOS is also the worst in the conference.

Are they "hot" right now? Sure, OK fine. 6-1 in their last 7 games, but 5 of them were at home. A&M has played only 3 home games in that same stretch.

There is a real world where they go 0-2 this week.

No actual college basketball guy is going to have Mizzou 3rd in the SEC "rankings" right now.

But again, that's the whole point of "power rankings." It's just a way to "these aren't actual season rankings, these are just teams with the best vibes right now"

Gave up on those guys after they didn't know Moss was out for the season. If their research is that shoddy so are their opinions.
