We have decided to go to Nashville for spring break. The fake reason is so my daughter can visit Vanderbilt and Belmont. The real reason is so my 13 yo son and I can go to the SEC tournament. Several questions

1. Stay downtown or outskirts where it is cheaper. Money is not really an issue but I'm fairly frugal and would rather spend money on tickets

2. How do tickets work? Is it game by game or session or what? I do understand the bracket and byes and all of that

3. Are they strict about sitting in your section or can you move if the arena is half empty. Say it's the first day first game and there are 2500 people there. Can you move easily?

4. Any other advice would be appreciated. My wife and daughter will go to the A&M game/games but son and I could pitch a tent in the arena.

5. Also, driving out Saturday morning no matter what.

I believe all tickets in advance are sold on an all session basis. The only tickets left would be for each school to use for their sessions. All season passes are sold out but you can get tickets on the traditional resellers for each session.

For the Big XII back in the day, it wasn't too hard to get individual session tickets because unless KU was playing, plenty of fans were selling. I would bet the SEC is the same way except the KU is the other KU.

AgsinAlaska, feel free to PM me and I'm happy to share my experience.

I go every year and it's one of my favorite sports events to attend. I go to all the games during the tournament and the Aggies have done well in the tournament the past three years.

As far as hotels go, I always stay downtown adjacent to the arena and that makes it really nice. There are a lot of options downtown. I rarely move my car for the week.

Tickets are generally easily available at a decent price with the exception of Kentucky's session and they will be a premium. There are a lot of different seating options in Bridgestone

We went this past year (2024) for this first time and it was a great trip. It's the first time anyone in our family had been to Nashville.

1) I would say stay downtown. We stayed in a building that was all AirBNB rentals about 3 blocks from Bridgestone. We walked everywhere. I couldn't imagine trying to find parking in that madness.

2) We bought tickets through 12th Man. They were pretty good actually. It was nice to sit around Aggies. It was easy to sell through seat geek for the games we didn't attend. I don't have any experience buying any other way. We had a friend that came up with his son and they had to scalp tickets for every game. They paid a fortune when we played UK, but I think they got to go to all of the games we played in.

3) We never tried to move down, but we were maybe 10-12 rows up perpendicular to one of the baselines. I think the worst that would happen is the people would ask you to move back to your seats. Any game with UK will be packed. Tennessee was the second most represented fanbase.

4) UK basketball fans are kind of the worst. Aggies were probably the smallest group of fans overall. I was bemoaning with my kids that in 2025 Texas will be there.

5) By leaving Saturday, you'll miss the semi finals and finals if the brackets are the same as last year. I don't know how much we spent on the trip, but it was worth every penny to be in the arena when we beat UK.

Take your wife out to Bourbon Steak while you are there. Also, go to Monell's for breakfast or brunch with the whole family.

Went last year. Stay downtown.

I believe the first round, maybe second rounds games were GA seating or something like that. Very easy to get tickets if Kentucky , Tenn are not playing

We live in Nashville.

My advice for the tournament is to stay downtown or close to Vanderbilt where you can walk and access quite a bit without your car. Walking to Bridgestone from Vandy is far. I wouldn't do it, but it is an easy Uber/lyft ride.

We buy tickets by the session and always find availability. First day used to be about $5 for the lower seeds. That day is 100% general admission. You can move around fairly easily. The rest of the days the move ability will depend on who is playing.

If you have questions, let me know. I work at Vandy and sometimes will volunteer at the SEC Tournament.

Not sure if anything has changed, but hotels in downtown Nashville are typically quite a bit more expensive than you would think. Not prohibitively, but just more than expected.
