Mentioned this on the game thread, and can't take credit for being the first to notice this yesterday, but a wild product of our basketball history being terrible and our non-con home games usually being against bad teams is that Friday's game against newly ranked Ohio State marks only the third home non-con game in school history between ranked teams.

The other two were both in 2015-16 when we played Baylor and Iowa State.

If some things go our way and their way we could see a fourth in a few weeks, Wake Forest is currently just outside the top 25 receiving votes.

That's crazy, even for us. Here's to more of these.

I think I missed "between ranked teams" when I read what you posted in another thread.

I had thought it was just the 3rd ranked non con opponent ever playing in our arena. Which seemed impossible, and I guess it was.

So two ranked teams playing in our arena during the non con had NEVER happened in the history of the program before 2015-2016 - still wild. Not easy to be top 25 in CBB.

Big game, Ags! Sell out Reed. Support this team. It's fun to watch even if still a bit raw at this early stage of season.

This is how I read it last night as well.

fully expect WF to be ranked, they quietly have three 5stars rostered 2 from Gonzaga(/LSU) one from ISU

We played Arizona and I think Nathan Walkup hit a buzzer beater against them in 2007 maybe

We're both teams not ranked then?

Neither team was ranked for that Arizona game.

A close one was Washington in '10-'11, they were ranked and we were receiving votes and got ranked the next week after we won.

It's two borderline Top 25 teams, neither a national hoops name.

That's not going to rile up the fanbase anywhere in the state of Texas or most of the South/Southwest. Especially in November.

It's looking pretty good from a crowd standpoint based on SeatGeek and the 12th Man Foundation websites, will come down to what the student crowd looks like.

I thought the students came out decently well for the home opener considering the opponent...

Neither us nor UNLV were ranked for that game.

We went from January 6, 1981 to the preseason rankings in 2006 without being ranked at all.

Yeah there's no way that's accurate.

Not a chance.

Right?

Right!?
