What does it take for us to get one elite recruit to come complement the scrappy, tough, rag tag group of low 4 Star and role playing Transfer portal shooters and rebounders?

Does Buzz just swing and miss a lot or just does not even want to deal with the one and dones and the egos?

Manny was a top 40 recruit.

I don't think Buzz is too interested in the top 20 guys, especially since he couldn't afford them anyhow.

Top 20 players get paid by blue bloods as much we pay for our entire team

Basketball is third on the pecking order here in terms of men's sports

And who knows what we're paying Taylor. I assume it's not a coincidence that he's coming off the payroll after this year and we have two of the highest rated players of the Buzz era committed for 2025.

Buzz isn't interested or are they nowhere near interested in playing for Buzz

But it is so relatively cheap to buy success. Imagine we spent 25% of the football budget on buying a basketball roster.

Basketball would win a lot more and our football team would still be mediocre.

Go look at BYU's past 2 classes and tell me A&M can't recruit bc we're not a blue blood. They're projected to land the top player in the country this year too.

Nobody said we can't recruit elite players because we're not a blue blood, we can't recruit elite because we aren't spending like one. BYU apparently is.

But we're getting good players.

BYU is an NIL force. There are some very rich Mormons.

NIL is fan driven. Feel free!!!

The House settlement changes all of this but I'm not sure how for Texas A&M. Keep in mind the purpose of the back pay is to reward athletes that did not receive adequate payouts from the school for their name, image, and likeness use in promoting the university's basketball program. The division favors football first then men's basketball and the first year number targets $21 million in forward-looking pay. External NIL was initially proposed to go through a clearnghouse to make sure this legitimate but the judge asked that proposal be modified to avoid intentionally limiting the amounts paid. She also required they define booster because it was ambiguous and they changed the it some.

And Title IX wasn't considered by the House judge at all in her determination so you can imagine the proposed division of funds is causing concerns.
