NCAA is a joke

I'll be very surprised if we get in the tournament. I'm not sure if we will deserve to be at this point, but I have zero faith the NCAA will be fair about it. If we beat Ole Miss and win round 1 of SEC tournament I think we will have a very good argument to be in at .500 in prolly the toughest conference this year plus all of our quad 1 wins.

Being left out while Notre Dame got in 2 years ago even though our Net was better and we beat them head to head makes me think the NCAA does not like us. Buzz's reaction was completely justified in my opinion, but it didn't help the situation as evidenced by last year's bs seeding.

It is ridiculous that the NCAA is not transparent on how they choose teams. They do this because they want to pick who they prefer and have 15 different reasons to justify it. Doesn't the NET bake EVERYTHING into their rankings? To not just use the NET or some other metric that considers everything is just corrupt.

I love the tournament, but the NCAA has really harmed it because of their bs agendas.

Remember when computer rankings were just part of the BCS formula and not even the whole thing?

People HATED it.

they'll do anything they can to get us and Texas in a play-in game

I'd prefer a computer over some jackhole with an agenda in secret meetings.
And I would gladly take the play-in game vs longhorns at this point.

Like or dislike the NCAA as much as you can because in just a few years it will cease to exist, or at least exist as we know it.

Being that these selection committees, regardless of sport are part incompetent and part corrupt is exactly why you never want to be put in the position of needing to rely on their judgment.

And yet here we are.....

It's amazing how so many Aggies think ESPN, the CFP and now the NCAA have some sort of agenda against A&M....

The truth is, outside of about a 3 hour radius of College Station, Texas A&M is completely irrelevant.

Not sure who this is directed to but I don't believe in an anti A&M conspiracy. I believe these committees are what I said they were. Full stop. Sometimes we get caught up in it sometimes it's others like FSU or any number of deserving mid major bb teams that get shafted to let in another team from a power conference.

Can't this thread wait until we actually miss the tournament?

right but three hour radius of College Station is literally a population of over 12 million people.

Not sure how you can look at our snub in '22 and last year's unfair seeding and think the NCAA doesn't have a problem with A&M.

I don't think 22 was an anti-A&M move. We were pretty bad to mediocre throughout the regular season and only got it together in the last few games. Sure we went on a run in the SEC tournament but the committee couldn't justify "Well they played good this weekend".

Last year is a different story. My tinfoil hat is securely on that our seeding got snubbed due to Buzz firing back at them with his hilarious report the year before.

I don't think they have it out for us, but I also believe whole heartedly that we never get the benefit of a doubt vs many other schools.

maybe we should be a better program and quit leaving our fate up to the NCAA

For the most part every team in the tourney's fate is up to the NCAA based on seeds and regions.

Solution: win the SEC Tournament.

We don't get the benefit of the doubt because A&M is irrelevant, not a draw, etc.

We don't get the benefit of the doubt because we lost FOUR Quad 3 games. None of the other teams considered in the tournament or on the bubble have that on their resumes.

The SEC finally replaced Byrne on the Selection Committee with
  • Mitch Barnhart, director of athletics, University of Kentucky

so, maybe we won't get outright screwed this year.

I think Byrne's term runs thru 2026. Barnhart's last year was 2021 as the chair of the NCAA basketball selection committee and then he moved over to the College Football Playoff Committee.

You're right, the list I pulled up was dated 2019.

We're still screwed.
