Tarleton is building an 149,000 sf. 7,000 seat arena that costs $110 million. I would think that would make our minimum cost for an arena that would be worth getting rid of Reed in the $150 million minimum cost range.
I am guessing the 9k is the overall season average. I can tell you there was a significant difference in non-conference/conference attendance. We had several games with over 12k in the building. Was a great atmosphere.WestTXCoyote said:
Google says A&M averaged just under 9k attendees in 2023 yet Reed has a capacity of just under 13k.
Building facilities doesn't seem to lead to championships.
Let's build a consistently winning program first.
I am curious if there are some old wealthy boosters who still don't believe in NIL (at A&M and other schools). Ones who say I will pay to upgrade facilities, but I am not putting money into a kid's pocket because this isn't professional sports. Also the really really wealthy ones probably want to go facilities way with the majority of their money, because they can put their name on facilities. Which also makes me wonder if in the next 10 years will we see college uniforms having advertisements (not an NIL deal necessarily because it would be a team wide thing not on a per player basis).Method Man said:
Spend the 150 million on the players. Aggies always do this.
Well yeah, but NBA teams make money off their Nike deal, but also make money off having another company's logo on their jersey.bobinator said:
In a way you already do since A&M makes money off of the deal with Adidas.
I look foward to the Bucees patch on the Aggie basketball jersey.bobinator said:
Yeah I'm just saying I agree this is something you'll see because you already kind of see it so it's not like unimaginable that you'll see it in the college game.
Some of this is coming from us when we play them in football.Aston04 said:
That's incredible Tarleton can afford an arena costing 110 million.

How will a new arena improve my game watching experience at home?

Good point! Is good lighting considered a resource?

What if we made the floor transparent and had a giant fish tank with sharks under it? That would be pretty bad ass.
