Don't know, but bad year to be a Texas team and lose with the final 4 being in Houston.

Its the tale of the bounce of the ball.

Texas Tech reached a crossroads in 2019. Tech was up 3 points in the National Title Game with less than 15 seconds left in the game.
Tech has always been seen as an also ran....a joke. A school out in the middle of nowhere with limited resources and average academics.
You would have to put some respect on Tech's name if they are #1 in the country.

If DeAndre Hunter misses that shot then Texas Tech becomes the 1st school in Texas history to have a Mens and Womens National Championship in basketball.

Tech would go on to lose a heart breaker in overtime.

The Baylor women won the 2019 National Title by 1 point over defending National Champion Notre Dame. A game that they should have lost. Baylor got very lucky at the end of the game.

If Tech would have won. and Baylor would have lost the way people think about these two schools teams would be reversed.

Tech's 2019 title run is already forgotten about....and 2 years later Baylor became the 1st Texas school to win Mens and Womens National Titles in basketball.

If it makes you feel better, no one talks about the women's championship.

It is interesting that OP can easily remember something from 40 years ago but not remember Baylor winning it all in 2021. Tech making title only 4 years ago. TU making FF 20 years ago I get that.

It doesn't happen a lot.

Houston has been a bunch of times. They have the deepest basketball pedigree of any school in the state. They've been to the Final Four 6 times, and this year should have been #7.

-Texas went to the Final Four in 2003
-Tech lost the National Title Game in 2019
-UTEP won the National Title in 1966.
-Baylor won the National Title in 2021

They lost, so it's not like the season was cancelled or tourney was stopped. They had their chance and lost

Baylor beat Houston in the final four, so technically both of those happened in 2021, not 40 years ago.

We are the only major conference school in Texas that has never made an Elite 8.

In the SEC, Ole Miss and A&M the only two schools never to make an Elite 8.
