Breaking the Attendance Record

I was at the Kentucky game last year where we had 14,100+ fans, and it was standing room only. When we got to our seats students were already sitting in them and we had to ask them to get up. Students were standing at the edge of the balcony all game long, including the ones from our seats. I guess what I'm getting at is that this feels like one of those unbreakable records, and I obviously hope I am wrong. I just noticed all the people on twitter talking about beating the record, and it seems very unlikely. Nevertheless, I will be doing my part Tuesday night, driving up from Beaumont, and yelling loudly!!!!

Yeah, I think if it's ever going to be broken it has to be almost that exact same scenario where it's the first big home game of the year after Christmas break and they let way too many students in.

We're certainly breaking the A&M average conference mark.

On Feb 21, when we're ranked #5 and 21-7 hosting #1 Tennessee... we need to have the hardwood setup in Kyle Field.

On March 4, we repeat as #1 A&M holds off #2 Alabama... we'll set a new record of over 100K to see an NCAA BB game.

Just wait until we build a 5K smaller facility that everyone wants, we'll really break attendance records.

Well Auburn currently has the smallest in the conference at just over 9k.

And with that, Auburn also has the best atmosphere and best homecourt advantage in the conference right now, and it's not close.

"Not even close" is a bit of a stretch.

Will be hard to break any records with 6 pm starts vs. Auburn or the Vols.

I think there is a better chance with the 11 a.m. start vs Bama on Saturday, March 4th.
Hopefully that game is for the SEC crown or to cement second place!

I bet when they start losing it'll be crap.

And I'm sure UK and Tenn can match Auburn in atmosphere.

Again I really hope we build a tiny facility, just to hear the *****ing and moaning on here when people can't get seats or ***** about how much tickets cost on secondary market

If it is going to get broken this year, then it would have to be the last game of the season if we are sitting at something like 11-6 or 12-5.

Agreed. Was the UK game sold out?
bama game is sold out. they know how many students seats they have. they will hopefully let in some SRO but there isn't much SRO capacity. I dont see them blowing over the student seat count when all the seats are sold.

UK game was on a weeknight but the arena was easily 20% Wildcat fans.

The Bama game attendance will be whatever the administration/fire marshal decides it will be.

Since the official Reed attendance is 12,999, the Fire Marshall has
to look the other way or not show unless there is x number of SRO spots

We have 3 big crowds and it sounds like we're on a Nebraska football sellout streak.

For most of our history 8,500 capacity would have been more than adequate.

After our dismal football season, fans were looking for a winning team!
We have a hard playing, fun team to watch too!

Big matchup tomorrow night and still tons of tickets available from the box office

Upper level for $12 and lowers for $23

It was nowhere close to 20% Wildcat fans. People always way overshoot this number.

Best home court so big they lost to a bubble team there and is the best team they've played there so far

Auburn also only has like 30,000 students. Our football student section is bigger than their entire enrollment.

Simply building a smaller arena does not guarantee any kind of atmosphere. Consistently making the tournament (with a final four mixed in) does guarantee a good atmosphere.

To be fair, only uga, bama (both both by 3k or less) and uf, are bigger than the football tickets sold last year.

But that's just depressing and shows how under preforming Aggie athletics are as a whole.

My point is that we have the biggest school in the SEC (and still growing). The idea of having the smallest basketball arena in the SEC for the sole reason that we do not consistently sell out Reed Arena every game is silly to me.

Official attendance numbers are reported as the number of tickets sold, not the count of people in the building. So the way you get 14,000 reported in Reed is not the fire Marshall looking the other way, it's by keeping track of how many people have actually entered the building and then letting in enough extra students to fill it to capacity.
