He was frustrated with support and came from programs where basketball is king and he knew it would never be that way here.

I wonder if getting that was as awesome as he imagined it to be.

Bob has th right way forward: find th next great coach.
MT at press conference said he was resigning and hoped Maryland would find a good replacement
for him.
Didn't sound like he was fired by U of M.
MT was a below average coach but an excellent recruiter. His teams consistently underperformed their talent levels. He had a number of NBA players on the roster at A&M and his production was no better than the person he replaced. He made it to the Sweet 16 one time in 13 seasons after leaving Wichita St. despite the talented rosters he fielded.SilverTongueDevil said:
MT is a very good coach. He kept us in tourney consistently but just couldn't get us to next level. He was a good recruiter. He was frustrated with support and came from programs where basketball is king and he knew it would never be that way here. I never had any anymosity about his departure. Seeing how quickly Kennedy crashed the program made me appreciate him much more. Take a look at the 11 seasons since he left. What BCG and MT were able to accomplish here is very impressive.

I actually think this is exactly the opposite. I think he was a below average recruiter but a good coach.Booma94 said:

He advertised schemes he would put in place that he could not successfully run as did Kennedy. That doesn't sound to me like a good coach since in theory such a coach would nit offer a scheme that didn't fit his players…bobinator said:I actually think this is exactly the opposite.
