If you can't enjoy the fact that students are turning out for a basketball game and choose to complain about their presence instead I've got nothing for you. Give up your tickets so someone that enjoys the atmosphere can have them.

That's what student sections are for.

Just FYI in upper decks quite a few people addressing this issue. If it was going to be student sections why not indicate it on the ticket so families would know

There were donors that bought seats for students as well. Having more students there is a great thing. Yell loud and enjoy the game.

Does it say anywhere in your tickets that students won't be allowed near you?

Stand up quit complaining and be a part of a great atmosphere.

The issue is people with a GA / Student ticket sitting in a reserved seat someone else bought. And this is happening times a lot.
Stoopkid

Ok, so the people that bought the seat just kick them out of the seat. Easy solution. But if they're not attending the game I'd much rather have students file in to those seats rather than let them sit empty. The more students down close to the court the better.

Now you're having bigger problems.
Students that have been here's since the doors opened said they're were told to go upper deck.
Now people with those reserved seats are arriving and its a huge mess.

Glad students showed but they let too many in and they don't have anywhere to sit or stand.
They are all in the isles and standing in the railing in the upper decks.

It is a complete cluster ****

No I'm saying I felt bad for the students who got here early and were told that overflow student was in upper decks and they went sat up there only to get run out by people who bought those seats
They were given wrong info.

Frankly, the students should be able to occupy all the seats in lower level on one side.

He was told to go to overflow seats that were sold to other people so kicked out of the arena with a lot of others. Has a sports pass

That isn't the student section where you were.

You bought a reserved seat and the Reed staff let in too many people for the GA/Student section so they are now sitting in your seats.

In essence, you bought a seat and then the Reed Arena staff let someone else have it even though you already paid for it.

The people running Reed have no idea what they are doing and are lucky tonight didn't become dangerous.

I agree on that principle later in the game.

However, tonight, the entire upper deck on both sides was filled with student an hour before tipoff. That is fantastic except those seats were already sold to someone else.

The Reed staff simply had no clue what they are doing and I'm not talking about the people scanning tickets at the door. I'm talking about the people who run the place.

Many of you saying .. oh it's a college basketball game, who cares enjoy it blah blah

Don't bluff with that card .. I doubt any of y'all were actually sitting in those sections last night

I sat in 203 last night

I Saw several families with young kids and elderly couples have to fight the craziness. If you have young kids or are elderly then no you're not going to want to sit in the student section and anyone who replies to them as " oh it's a college basketball game, more students the better just enjoy it… is an idiot. Felt bad for a lot of those people I saw dealing with that.
If you feel it's no big deal then Reed should be 100% GA , then see how many people show up to games.

Where we were, from section 204 to 201 was crazy. The staircase going up to the 2nd level was jam packed, you couldn't even move.
Once you got to the 2nd level the bottom rows were jammed packed.. shoulder to shoulder and couldn't move.
The stairs going up the isles again students standing all in them and you couldn't move.
In the seats, students were all standing and were packed in way more per row than seats allowed, many standing sideways so they could all fit.

As a college student yeah that's sounds like a great atmosphere, as a parent with young kids or elderly that's not what they want to deal with. Again and I saw several examples of this .

There is a reason you have designated student sections at every major college venue in the country in pretty much every sport.

They simply let way too many students in last night and then for some reason someone told them to go sit in the upper levels. It created chaos

Hey man you can just quote me next time instead of being vague and calling me an idiot. I was in 218 in my season ticket seats. Unfortunately had to ask a pair of students to leave our seats but they were nice about it.

A donor purchased a bunch of upper deck tickets to give to students without sports passes. A great gesture but unfortunately wasn't announced until the afternoon which did not leave time for any planning or communication. Somehow that got communicated to students (through the ushers I assume) that the upper deck was general admission student section. The late arriving crowd (due to parking and traffic issues) didn't help as some students were in those seats at least an hour before tip off.

The issue was two fold:
1) Way too many students were let in compared to what was actually available for them.
2) They were told to go where they shouldn't and paid ticket holders were left to clean it up as they arrived.

With that said, I wish we could make the normal student section bleachers and actually let in as many students as possible. There should also be a way to know before hand if you can get in (and stay in) the game. Students that got rejected or kicked out last night may never try to go to a game again which is a real shame.

Again if that's you're thinking then why not just 100% open all the seating to general admission and allow as many students in ?? Make the non students wait outside in line to see if seats open up …. I mean come it's a COLLEGE basketball game

I would actually love this. Texas did an all student game at Gregory gymnasium a few weeks ago and it was huge success.

But on a serious note It would be great if some of the upper deck seats were permanently reserved for student overflow. AKA make the student section bigger in seats that rarely get bought by the general public anyways. The student enrollment is much bigger now than when Reed Arena was built. Yes, this would make it harder for non students to get tickets to the biggest games, but you know what - it's hard for Duke and Kansas fans to get tickets to their games too. And it's much better than kicking students out of the game that have already been let in. If you have season tickets this wouldn't be an issue at all.
