Starting a new thread because I woke up hyped this morning. Our season was trash, but we're one day away from Selection Sunday after a year without a tournament. Grab a beer, throw something on the grill/smoker, and let's do this.
Championship Games
(*- likely at-large bid teams, ^- bubble team)
10 AM - America East - Umass Lowell vs Hartford - ESPN2
Noon - MEAC - Morgan State vs Norfolk State - ESPN2
3 PM - MAAC - Iona vs Fairfield - ESPNU
5 PM - Big 12 - Texas* vs Oklahoma State* - ESPN
5 PM - Mountain Wast - Utah State^ vs San Diego State* - CBS - (Bracket matrix currently has Utah State as the last team in the field. Big game here.)
5 PM - SWAC - Prairie View vs Texas Southern - ESPNU
5:30 PM - Big East - Georgetown vs Creighton* - FOX - (Potential bid steal game here, Georgetown won't be an at-large selection)
6:30 PM - MAC - Ohio vs Buffalo - ESPN2
7 PM - Big Sky - Montana State vs Eastern Washington - ESPNU
7:30 PM - ACC - Georgia Tech* vs Florida State* - ESPN
8 PM - C-USA - North Texas vs Western Kentucky - CBSSN
8:30 PM - Southland - Abilene Christian vs Nicholls - ESPN2
9 PM - WAC - New Mexico State vs Grand Canyon - ESPNU
9:30 PM - Pac 12 - Oregon State vs Colorado* - ESPN (another bid-steal game, Oregon State has to win to get in)
10:30 PM - Big West - UC Irvine vs UC Santa Barbara - ESPN2
Who's on the bubble? (per BracketMatrix.com)
Last four in: Drake, Colorado State, Syracuse, Utah State
First four out: Ole Miss, Boise State, Seton Hall, St. Louis
Bubble games:
Utah State vs San Diego State - Mountain West Final - 5PM - CBS
Memphis vs Houston - American Semifinal - 4:30 PM - ESPN2 (Memphis is quite a ways off the projected cut line on BracketMatrix, but Lunardi likes them a lot more than most people and has them as the second team out. How much would a win over Houston help? At minimum it would set up a bid-steal game tomorrow.)
What else?
- If you're looking for good basketball then the Big 10 semifinal of Ohio State vs Michigan (noon- CBS) is one of the better games of the day even though it doesn't mean much in the grand scheme of things. Michigan is probably going to be the overall #3 or #4 seed no matter what happens here.
- Alabama (vs Tennessee, SEC Semifinal, Noon - ESPN) might (I'm not convinced of this but people are saying it...) have an outside chance at a 1 seed if they win the SEC Tournament. But the reason I'm not convinced is...
- Illinois (vs Iowa, Big Ten semifinal, 2:30 - CBS) - I'd think whoever wins this game is going to be the overall #4 or maybe #3 if Michigan loses, especially if they win the final on Sunday.
A lot to keep track of today, but I believe in all of us.
