Is that an all-time team record?

I believe the record is held by a squad coached by Shelby, but I'm going on memory.

Interesting stat. The Ags didn't attempt a field goal in the last 1:39 after Flagg made a shot (on which he was fouled). After that they went 11-11 from the line. Amazing focus.

Definitely won that game at the FT line in the last few minutes.

I was thinking today about some of the Kennedy teams that were absolutely miserable from the stripe. Mind blowing how good some of those teams were at shooting, yet how pathetic they were when it came to free throws

Ehh, not really true. Dj Hogg was the only one that was a good shooter and poor free throw shooters. Mostly it was down to having guys that were good basketball players but bad shooters (ie tyler Davis and rob williams).

Disagree. Caruso and House shot .685 and .686 at A&M from the line. Yes, that's better than Hogg's .658, but all were poor free throw shooters considering their talent. I feel like almost everyone under Kennedy struggled with free throws other than maybe Jones and Gilder

I looked in a recent A&M men's basketball media guide. To my surprise, A&M does not keep track of this stat.

But A&M does keep track of the best free throw percentage in a game. And this game was not the record. Against Florida A&M in 2009, we made 20 of 20. And we might have had a longer streak in two other games. In 2004, we made 23 of 24 against Long Island. And in 1973, we made 31 of 33 against Cougar High.

Caruso shot 60 pct his freshman year and 79 pct his senior year. Not the best example.

And house shot 31 pct from threes his senior year and 72 pct from the line. Hard to argue he was a great shooter from the field and a poor shooter form the line. He was an outstanding athlete and a mediocre shooter all around.

Besides Hogg I really don't think you can find anyone who fits your description of someone who was a good shooter yet "pathetic" at free throws.

Hopefully that will continue and we can find a way to get to the line. Really happy about this stat

Not sure if that one is the record but against UNC in NCAA 2nd round, we made a whole string in OT. They kept fouling and we could not miss. What is ironic, I don't recall Shelby's teams being that great at FTs.
