If I were guessing, and that is all I am doing, it is 50/50. If he meets and responds well to the new coach, he'll stay. Right now, if he declares, I doubt he will even be drafted by an NBA team.

Wright staying would be crucial for this squad to get better in the next 2 years. He would surely improve his draft position, but I think if he did declare, he'd be taken in the later rounds. He's gifted, just hasn't had much of a supporting cast to take the heat off of him.

You mean later round?

I'm pretty sure there's only two rounds in the NBA draft.

If the greatness of Bernard King couldn't get drafted or make an NBA team there's no way Wright would make a team right now.

sorry Par 5, I'm not a basketball guru, but I think he'd probably get a shot or at least a tryout... How heavily recruited was he out of highschool?

Wright would not get drafted. What part of his game says NBA? The guy at this point isn't even a sniff of Bernard King.

He's under the impression he's good enough, right? I thought I remember reading about him saying he was leaving if Watkins did.

Interesting to know that he's not as good as I thought. Like I said, I don't really follow Aggie Basketball, just read up on it every now and again.

With that said, do you think he has potential to become a great player?

Thanks for the input.

Just to put things into perspective, Andre Emmett wasn't even expected to be drafted last year.

Wright goes no where. Even if drafted it would be second round. Second round guys don't make the bucks. Wright could be a lottery pick if he stays, improves and blossoms under a good basketball coach that demands fundametals from him and doesn't cater to him.

Wright will get through the emotions of feeling like he let Watkins go. Watkins will council him to stay. He cares for the kid. The only way Wright goes 1st round in the NBA is to stay at A&M and hack it out. No way a kid who shot less than 40% off a team that didn't win a conference game goes high in the Draft. NO WAY!

Every knowledgable basketball person will tell him to stay put and at least get a degree.

If Wright decides to leave then he isn't as smart as I think he is.

I think it's sad that some players (basketball or football) never really become "Aggies". Wright is an example of that. When he signed the letter of intent, was it a committment to the best university in the world or to the coach? He's been on campus for two years. If he hasn't caught the Aggie Spirit by now and doesn't have the desire to help HIS school, maybe he should move on.

"But there’s a spirit can ne’er be told ...
It’s the spirit of Aggieland."
