Someone in the east.

Scary thought: Memphis has a chance at getting two top spots. They have the Rocket's pick too.

You probably already know this, but Memphis has to give their pick to Detroit, unless Memphis gets the #1. The Rockets' pick that goes to Memphis will most likely be the 13th.

So Memphis could end up with only the 13th.

or

Memphis could end with the 1st and 2nd(from Houston). That would be amazing.

Memphis has an excellent shot at getting the 2nd or 3rd pick that will then be shipped to Detroit. Add Darko or Carmelo to the #1 seeded team in the East and you may have someone who could actually compete in the West.

It has already been rigged for the pick to go either to New York or Washington. I'm betting Washington so the NBA can keep promoting Jordan. But don't rule out New York. Either way it is fixed.

I bet its gonna be New York. Other than the Bulls, and more recently the Lakers, the New York Knicks has been the marquee name (not so much team) in the NBA. That team is in shambles right now and I bet the NBA will try to bring it back up to status quo.

ce1994 is a genius. The lottery is rigged. Yao Ming will end up in either New York playing for the Knicks, or at Golden State playing for the Warriors. OOPS, the lottery wasn't rigged. Yao ended up w/the Rockets.

I predict Lebron doesn't make it in the NBA, so I wouldn't pick him.

I was in Los Angeles when his team played my high school team (Mater Dei) at Pauley Pavilion. My brother and I went. The guy is one great high school player, maybe the best ever, but he is playing against high school kids- the NBA is a lot different than high school.

Best of luck to him, but I don't think he will last...

Amare was a high schooler last year playing against high school kids. Lebron was better than him as a sophomore. Lebron was the best player in high school as a junior. Now Lebron is the best player not NBA as a senior.

The hype is justified.

That is pretty funny Monarch. If he turns out to be a bust he only sticks around for 13 years and makes more money than most of us could dream of.

The NBA conspiracy guys are too funny. Do you think guys like Mark Cuban and other owners would allow the NBA to screw teams over. No chance in hell. If there was anything fishy going on with the lottery Mark Cuban would have called David Stern on it by now. And no offense to Spurs fans or San Antonio residents (I used to be a SA resident) but if the NBA was going to rig the lottery they certainly wouldn't ship Tim Duncan to the Spurs! They would have sent him to a big market team. Spurs got lucky, simple as that.

I heard David Stern already has the 2003 championship trophy engraved with the Lakers name on it ;-)

Thank god for the NBA conspiracy knuckleheads because they really entertain me. Yes these owners are really going to allow the NBA to cheat. As Mark said, no way the NBA sends Duncan to the spurs if the lottery was rigged. If Lebron ends up in NY people will cry the lottery is rigged. If Lebron ends up in Cleveland people will cry the lottery is rigged. If Lebron ends up in Chicago people with claim it is rigged. No matter where he ends up people will find some reason to show it is rigged. Meanwhile these owners who have invested millions into these organizations just allow this to go on. ;-)

And how the hell is Washington getting the #1 pick going to allow the NBA to continue promoting Jordan? Jordan isn't playing in Washington anymore. Jordan is not a part owner of the Wizards. If Jordan gets a job with an NBA team it will not be the Wizards. Both he and the Wizards know they need to part ways.

David Stern played a part in feeding the conspiracy theories by pushing the "laker rule" through for this season's playoffs. If he had made the rule effective next year it would have seemed more credible.

Some of the playoff calls last year were questionable.

Shaq's "but drop" is called inconsistanly. Sometimes it is called as an offensive foul, sometimes it is a defensive foul.

Technically if the offensive player uses any part of his body to push a player from his taken position it is an offensive foul.

Then again, three steps is a travel.

Yes the Lakers really needed the NBA to move the series to 7 games because in a 5 game series they would have been screwed. ;-)

Again let's go back to the owners thing. The owners are not going to approve a deal to help the Lakers. The owners know this wasn't about the Lakers. David Stern and the NBA owners are about making money and this will give them all more money. This was not a Lakers move, it was a fattening the wallet move.

AgE - I think the argument was that when it as done, the Lakers were barely clinging onto the 8th seed. The NBA thinks that they playoffs would get more ratings if a popular team stays in the playoffs long. I think the Lakers would do better in a 5 game series myself.

All the owners like it because they get an extra game at home. I heard somewhere before that owners expect about $1M per playoff home game. They know playoff games will be sold out.

David Stern runs the league, not the owners. This ain't the NFL or MLB.
AgEfan

But he can't put in a rule like this without the other owner's approval.
