Is Bud Selig in charge of this decision? Absolutely terrible. Do NOT mess with March Madness. The sport that needs a post-season adjustment is college FOOTBALL.

I'm kind of surprised there at 68 already though. With a play in game for one of the 16 seeds just kind of thought that soon there would be play in games for all 4 of them

I totally agree with expanding the field until they decide to get rid of the automatic bid for tourney winners. There are VERY good teams that get left out because some 12-18 team wins their tourney with competition that rivals that of a 5A district.

Are WE a "VERY good" team?

Like 75% of the major conference teams would make a 96 team tournament. Thats stupid. The regular season would just be pointless except for the bottom feeders of every league. Then you add 16 extra tournament games between the dregs of major conferences and small conference teams, some of which will invariably lose earlier having to play more games, leaving you with less compelling later round games. The tournament already has 1 too many teams.

Agreed.

"Good" teams get left out, but those are teams that had 4-5 different opportunities during the season to get that 1 more win they likely needed (plus the conference tournament).

Can't see how anyone doesn't like the conference tournament winners going - that was about the only thing A&M hoops fans had still to hope for, for years and years... and those are the teams that make the opening rounds the most exciting.

Basically, if you take Lunardi's bracket as a possible current scenario and add 32 more teams you'll definitely get the following craptastic additions...and I'm sure several more that I'm not even thinking of.

Seton Hall, Louisville, Marquette, Florida, Illinois, Virginia, North Carolina, Texas Tech, Mississippi, Minnesota, Washington, and South Carolina

Probably Virginia Tech, Boston College, Notre Dame, South Florida, Michigan, Arizona St, Alabama, Arkansas, and even ****balls like Oklahoma and UCLA would still have shots.

It's like the NCAA saying, "You know what? There are some compelling NIT games out there that nobody watches or cares about, what if we have another weekend of games so that our tournament takes an entire month to finish up and we get to show some sweet Texas Tech vs San Diego State basketball!"

I'd like to hear what coaches say about this. For most, its a pretty big accomplishment to even get to the dance. Now it will be expected for almost all of the power conference coaches.

Until a 16 seed beats a 1 seed, there should never be any talk of expanding

There are plenty of teams who have a puncher's chance of beating a No. 1 that can't make the tournament.

If this happens, not only will they get a shot, but No. 1s will start to fall.
